If he's truly world class, why can't he even get in the England squad...?

He has never been anywhere close to World class, no matter how much people have a soft spot for him and want to believe. Yes he has a very good record for England, but the majority of his goals have come against pitiful opposition, which when playing international footbal is like Man Utd playing a League 1 side so hardly gives a true reflection.

Oh and there is no chance of him scoring 25 goals this season. Not to mention the abysmal tactics Stoke were derided for, but had appeared to get away from last year, will return... ie. long ball and long throw.

Crouch is a good player, maybe even a class player, but world class he is not, never has been and never will be.
And isn't it odd how quiet the three posters are at the moment?

Players who are world class do not sign for Stoke City.

Hit the nail on the head....

Not to mention, players who are world class tend to get in the own club side and international squad with regularity.

Whether he is world class or not should not be the debate. Would he have added value to our team? Answer is yes he would. He has scored goals at Prem and International level.

The price tag is too high - not the fault of the player, but a fair reason for us to dminish our interest.

Bothroyd has a lot to prove still. And having options up front would have been good.

Would NW liked to have signed him - answer is yes, that is why he tried to.

it was typical Hyperbole don't people know that you should jump into a VAT of salt before considering rumours from these people

We have been linked with crouch since June for someone to refer to him as a OMFG is frankly laughable and very misleading
its New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks

Surely that phrase should be used when referring to the likes of John Curtis and Matt Hill.

Thank the lord those days are behind us.

Don't get me wrong, i don't doubt for one second the passion these chaps (pete and co) have for our football club but i do seriously doubt there football knowledge. To get so over excited about Peter Crouch to the point of saying he is world class is.....well, to be honest, alittle sad.
Decent player, would of done a fairly good job for us as a target man and link player for the likes of Tarrabt and Wright Phillips to feed off but for 10 Million? I would rarther save the cash and give Bothroyd a chance to do the same job.

OMFG would not have been the right way of getting excited for me about Crouch. It would have been "potential decent signing coming in"

OMFG would describe someone like Benayoun, Arteta or maybe even still someone like Messi. (though his might be OMFFFG)

Massive exageration & "look at me" was in play.
