To anybody thinking about throwing their toys out the pram....
I will confess to being a little disappointed at the lack of activity today (so far). Having watched all three matches I feel that our squad is weak in certain areas and could do with some strengthening, particularly in the wide areas and central defence. There is no doubt that we are in a far better position than we were: Barton, Traore and Young are all excellent signings and will certainly make a difference. However, we could do with two or three more experienced players in my opinion. Of course there is still time left and I'm sure Warnock, Bhatia and Fernandes are doing all that they can. If we don't sign anyone today, then nobody should blame them - it is Briatore and Ecclestone who have caused us to leave signings to the last day of the transfer window.
You have to compare us to other newly promoted teams in recent years. At this precise moment in time there is no denying we need a centre half and the loan window IMO will see us acquire one if anything.
You have to remember deals hit last minute hitches as players and clubs both try it on due to the apparent desperation there is to get deals done
I think its fine to be disappointed about a particular player. I like Jenas for instance (know that puts me in a minority of about one) so I'm mildly disappointed it looks as if he isn't coming. But I think the original poster was trying to say we shouldn't be disappointed over all. Godfather is right the squad is far from ideal but from where we were we have made massive, massive leaps forward. On paper at least we have now left Norwich, Swansea and Wigan out of sight.
NW interviewed on sky today where he said that we would sign no more than 5 players today........so I guess he build up peoples expectations. If we end this day with nobody I WILL be disappointed with TODAY, but happy again in a couple of days

Thing is, say we don't get SWP and we have Puncheon, straight away fans will start writing him off.
As football fans we need to stay more grounded, otherwise we end up becoming the sort of fans we are suppose to despise.
