Seems to have a real problem with Rangers, is there history between him and Warnock ? Remember him last season running us down at every opportunity when we won Championship and has already slated us this season, laughing when asked if we would stay up.

As much as I can't stand Merson, he does have a point in that article. I don't like to criticise Warnock (he's worked wonders for QPR) but I do feel it was a little disrespectful to claim that he 'wanted us to lose' in the League Cup (the only major cup competition that our club has won!). It's unfair on the supporters who paid good money to watch the team.

just an observation, but that article contains some of the most banal prose i've read in a long while.
yeah yeah... if it was only half as bad as people make out, then i've got genuine sympathy with anyone who paid on tuesday, but merson writes like an over-excited five-year-old brat with a ludicrously limited vocabulary. crikey, imagine being stuck in a broken down lift with him...

I have to say im well fooooked off about all the publicity we have got about going out to Rochdale in the CC. Especially all the stick NW has got.
Its true this competition divides people whether you think its good or bad. Personally for me its a mickey mouse cup that should be abolished or given a major revamp. The reason NW is being slated is cos hes had the balls to come out and say what most premier league managers think about the competition. Man Ure, Arsenal etc field weakened teams every season in this competition and hardly ever get slated and yes they have both been dumped by lower teams at some point or another. The difference with the bigger teams is that even though they field weakened teams more often than not theyre still strong enough to beat the opposition.
To be honest if i lived in the burger van outside LR i still wouldn't go to watch this competition and i really couldnt have cared less if Rochdale had hit 5, 6 , 7 past us as much as i love Rangers. I predicted 2-0 to Rochdale and only wish i'd took a flutter on it. We lost Bradley Orr in this game for what? A competition we have the slimmest chance of winning. Now we face Wigan in the premier league without a RB. Imagine if Taarbs and Bothroyd had got injured or sent off???? What kind of a position would we have been in then to face wigan. This competition is ok for the teams who are likely to finish mid table in the premier league like Everton, Villa, Sunderland etc who have stronger squads than us but for the teams like ourselves, Blackburn, Swansea, Norwich we are in a season long battle just to survive the premier league and the bigger picture is survival. Even if we do manage to pull off another 2 or 3 signings this season it will be our hardest season ever and we simply cant do with the distraction of the CC or the injuries and suspensions we may have picked up along the way if we had had a decent run.
I also feel The FA Cup will be major distraction to us too and for this season i hope we get knocked out straight away. All i care about is making sure we're in the premier league next season. For those that disagree with this how would you feel if say we won the carling cup yet got relegated cos of injuries and suspensions caused by having a run in the CC?
I do have to say full respect to Rochdale as they grasped the opportunity from our weakened team and good luck to them in the next rounds. For teams who have nothing really to play for this cup can be great but for us our only goal should be premiership survival.

Ask any brum fan as they walked to or from wembley if they would rather lost 2~0 at home to rochdale in the 1st round and I bet not one of them would have said yes!
I am with mersin on this one

If you look at the other results ie Norwich,Swansea,West Ham..that would suggest that the managers of those sides feel the same way too,but wont dare say it

Merson gre up in Northolt were most of his freinds were QPR fans, and there has always been alot of banter especially at that time we were the top london club.
We all know Merson never grew up and he use the media to carry on his bit of banter with his old mates, also he is trying to be controversal e,g, the new Rodney Marsh, which he also cant do because he dosnt have the brains to put any kind of arguement most of the time. One for all.... and all for one

Anyone watch soccer sat. Talking about us signing Barton, suddenly Merson starts out of nowhere on how disgusting wed was. When Jeff says he only says what every other manager is thinking,Merson starts spitting and spluttering and getting louder on how NW has mugged us all off.BTW Lambert made 11 changes at Norwich but thats fine because he did'nt say he was glad to be out.
He then says we will be glad of a cup run, when in mid Dec we're sitting bottom of league, and finally I've got to tell you he's almost shouting how last season we would'nt be sayimg we're glad to be out when trying to get into the prem..Good research ****.
