    Would be a top signing.

Blimey, earlier reports said Man City were happy with £2.5m. This is what happens when other clubs know we are a wodged up and desperate.

They said that a week ago, then it was back in Bolton's favour. We can only hope.
        Your mum would love me...

Indeed. Would also be our record signing (I know in reality it would be Barton but as technically he is a free transfer this would be the first time we've paid an actual fee of £3m). A worthy player of the accolade imho.

Only thing that puzzles me about him is I was shocked he was already 29. He seems to have gone from a player of brilliant promise to one in the latter stages of his career, but what happened in between? Has he ever played 40 odd games a season? I wonder if he regrets now not scaling back his ambitions earlier and rather than warming so many benches for Chelsea and Man City had been the main man at somewhere like Bolton? Maybe that's what he's finally decided, and if so hope v much it is with us.

Wonder would Daddy come and watch him if he does do the signing thing? He might even wear the home kit and a scarf.... worth it just to see that!

Sheron was £3.2m total packahe - sometimes see the £2.75m bandied about but I had that confirmed with Jez Moxey (Stoke's Chief Exec at the time) who was very proud he'd driven the price so high without any other real interest.

thanks sir pie. better than i thought. ever since he's been back at man city he has played in at least half their games every season and in a couple of seasons had 40 plus appearances. I'm not one who believes money is the be all and end all but who would have thought a few years ago that we would sign a player who had once gone for £21m?
