  • Anyone been to Stoke before?

I know this is looking ahead a bit....................

I'm planning on going to our game there on November 19th. Never been there before. I am planning it as part of a small holiday up North.

I'm disabled. My question is twofold : Is it far to walk from the station to the ground and am I likely to get there and back in my QPR shirt without getting my head kicked in?

    Thanks in advance.

It depends what you call far, and what mood they're in. I've had a rather unpleasant visit there before, but some of them are a good laugh.

Yeah I was thinking of doing that to get there. It's more the return trip that worries me when there may not be a cab around.

I would say more than a mile but not 100% sure, taxi is the best and safest bet

That's a problem, but I'm sure there's a cab rank nearby. Give the club call. I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.

Good thinking Benny never thought of that. It prob seems a silly thing to worry about, but when you're on two walking sticks these things have to be planned well. Thanks.

From memory, the road lay out doesn't really lend itself to one, that's the problem with a ground shoved out on the edge of a bypass

My advice would be to get the coach -- either LSA or club.

Been there twice and swore I'd never return.
And I shant - so there!

                        Post match very lively indeed.
                        We have history.

Last time it made headline news on 5Live Sports round up and the compound fence nearly came down.
Time before that those of us leaving the compund outside the away end had to be shall we say "very aware". On our walk back to the car it kicked off three times.

May have mellowed somewhat since they have been up in the Gravy League but I wont be finding out.
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

If you have walking sticks I doubt you'll have to worry about being harmed by any Stoke rascals

There is a shuttle bus from station to ground and back etc. Not sure how disabled friendly it is, from memory it was a regular double decker just for away fans so you prob will be ok. As you come out if the station there us an away friendly pub (you will know it by the police outside). The bus pulls up outside the pub.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I must confess L Block has put me off the idea a bit. I have a two hour drive to Loftus Road and as it was gonna be part of my holiday the coach is a non-starter as I'd be carless the rest of the holiday. From what some of you say, I may give it a miss.
