I like Kalou although my director who is a Chelsea ST holder calls him clueless would be a very good signing for a club at our level. He's the type of player though who because of his record/experience will end up and someone like Spurs.

With Adebayor confirmed at Spuds, I would think Defoe or Crouch are worth an enquiry if we are looking at one more striker.

Question. If Neil had the budget he now has about 2 months ago, would he still have signed DJ and Bothroyd? I don't have an opinion, I just wondered.

Probably as they are still two decent signings for a team looking firstly to survive. In any team you need at least four or five strikers and of course they are currently first choice with the likes of HH, Hulse and Agyemang 3rd, 4th and 5th but if we were to bring in another striker they would fall down the pecking order and the likes of Agyemang (as well as Vine and Pellcori) should be told they are surplus to requirements.

P.S. Have you made your prediction for tomorrow's match? If so PM or use the thread half way down the first page!

I agree with SirPie - I think the likes of Bothroyd and DJC - for the outlay - would still be worthy of contracts at a club like ours in it's Premier league infancy. Just imagine if we had brought in a couple of strikers at the next level and then added those two for back up and options off the bench - we would surely all be happy?

We can go on adding to the list all day because a squad can be constantly improved (look at Chelsea) but for me a striker is lower down in priority than two full backs, Barton, SWP and Jenas. Also, given a choice, I'd prob take a centre half over a centre forward. Neil is already talking about January and I think that is when we will get a stiker if Jay or DG are not doing the business.

              Done, thanks for reminder.

Defence is a priority I'm sure, and Kalou is a decent shout, but equally Sturridge is worth a look, especially as he hasn't gone back to Bolton yet even tho Chel**** have 2 new strikers ahead in the pecking order. Maybe he also prefers to stay close to London, like Crouch?

I agree that the defence is the priority - if you don't concede you don't lose games.

Of course if you don't score you can't win but there is little point in scoring 2 and letting in 3. I'd rather see us win scrappy 1 nils then lose exciting 3-2s. Right back, left back and centre back is required.
