That would be a real scoop for 1882 to be fair. However, it's interesting to note the figures quoted in that article about Barton being paid £80 large.
I thought Neil's comments on the conference about wages (offered and quoted in the press) were entertainment on their own.
The fee being touted was £2.5m which seems good value for a player of his pedigree but the earlier speculation was he favoured Bolton. Neil's probably having a nightmare time with all these prima donnas saying "I'll sign if he signs" but nobody putting pen to paper till the other does.
