Good posts mate, agree with all points, but Bertrand will soon be 4th choice left back wont he ? Behind Cole, bloke from Porto their supposedly getting, and van Aanholt? If this is the case, loaning him out would surely be a better option for them than letting him rot away in the reserves?
I dont think they have a problem with the home grown players rule as far as I am aware, as to qualify as home grown, a player will: "have had to be registered for at least three seasons at an English or Welsh club between the ages of 16 and 21". A club needs 8 of these; Chelsea already have Lampard, Terry, Turnball, McEachran, Cole, Sturridge, van Aanholt and Kakuta (the latter 2 have been at Chelsea since 2007).

Not saying that this means we will get Bertrand obviously, but simply that the homegrown players rule shouldnt be any reason we wont get him. IMO, I would love Bertrand to come asm, the few times Ive seen him play for England u21s he has looked a player of some potential!

You might be right I'm just not entirely sure about what consitutes three seasons - three whole seasons? 3rd season? Van Aanholt and Kakuta signed in 2009 meaning 09/10 and 10/11 are two seasons but does 11/12 count? McEachran is only 18 so does that count?

That's why I'm not entirely sure if he can go - of course they could name a kid we've not heard of in their 25 but that would mean fewer places for players over 21.
