If he is on a free i dont see why we dont pay it.

We then have an asset worth 8million odd, so as far as Tony the tiger is concerned we can sell if we get relegated.

      But who would buy him??

Not exactly a queue wanting to have him now on a free.

I think he is a top player but he comes with a lot of baggage!

At the top of the article.

Joey Barton was in talks with Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday night after he was offered an astonishing £80,000-a-week three-year deal by the newly-promoted Premier League club who are also set to submit an improved £7 million offer for another midfielder, Scott Parker, this week.
        Thanks

Its the 'baggage' that actually means we have a chance of signing him otherwise he would be at a Champs Lg team.

Firsty he isn't worth anything like 8 million.

Even for free no-one wants him except us and maybe a couple of clubs with no money.

I hate the guy with a passion, but he is a good football player so would be good for QPR. It is his vileness that means we are going to get him for free.

But not at 80k a week. We could go down and that contract with a player that could be bad for the dressing room, on much higher wages and may notbe interested could come back to haunt us. Everyone would know we would want to sell him if we went down and judging by the interest when he is free - we would probably have to pay a club to take him in those circumstances.

I would be amazed if it is anymore that 60k and even that for a club like us is staggering.

Remember what our biggest signings have been and put this into context.

Yes but there is inflation along with being in the prem etc and we didn't have TF.

We cant go into things like this with the attitude "but we might go down, we better not go for this big player", we need to be optimistic and go all out to ensure we DONT go down, ie signings players like Barton.

Yes, putting this into context of our past signings it is a whole different level of money involved, but we are a whole different club now. You cant even begin to compare us now to when we were under previous ownership. We have new, ambitious owners looking to progress the club, so lets supprt them all the way and let then worry about keeping us financially sound - which they will, theyre all very sucessful businessmen that know exactly what theyre doing.

I agree - but TF isn't rich enough to bank-roll us for years. I am optimistic, I just want to know we are building a secure long-term future.

                      Mittal is.

And TF has emphasised how important he believes building this club is in all aspects, ensureing its sustainable for years to come when he has gone. I have total faith in TF to turn us into an established PL side

I Like Barton as a player & will improve our team. but do we really want someone who wants to stay ay Newky? maybe his hearts not in this, could be a big mistake. Hope Neil's got this one right?

That's what TF keeps talking about so it sounds good to me.

Just as I said yesterday, Neil said the same about Palace. He's just trying to pacify the Geordie fans, and make it known that he's not forced the move.

I'm so excited ,as we probably all are.But to hear figures like that bandied around,I'm suddenly feeling nervous, like it was my own money they're spending.

                                I know £80k a week is a serious amount of money...BUT

if we can afford it...why not?!

After all...he is on a free.
