Hide behind the sofa, chaps. Seems we are back in for him. According to the Liverpool Echo we are in talks about a £1.5m deal (odd really when it says earlier in the same article that Saints are holding out for £1m). Might be rubbish, but just highlights that fans turning their noses up at David Bentley and even Joe Cole need to get a bit of realism.

Or reconfirms just how much NW rates him and wants him. I remember a load of toys being thrown out prams when Jamie Mackie and Shaun Derry signed and if Gorkks goes as the majority payment, it could be a good deal.

Even though I would want better than him, I was one who didnt want Derry, so in this instance, I totally trust Neil.
Funny how we can go from SWP a full international to a league 1 player in past.

for once... Agree with ya Paul!

As ive said before on this subject, anybody that thinks they know more than Warnock when it comes to judging players ability (especially as 99% of people on this board's knowledge of Puncheon is 1 game or 2 on Sky last year for Blackpool) really needs to quit their day job and get themself a job as a scout.

If NW rates him, thats good enough for me.

Once again, last seasons stats for you:

5 goals in 7 CCC games.
3 goals in 11 PL games.

              Pony?

Some of the comments on here are embarrassing, as mention by Paul the same thing was mentioned when we brought Derry and Hill and then in pre-season Hall is rubbish, Derry to slow, legs have gone and look at all of them they have been outstanding.

For what it worth, I saw Puncheon live on the net a few times, and he look a good prospect and if NW thinks he the player we need then thats good enough for me.

We moan when we have no money, we moan when we do ! Why of why cant we just enjoy the good times.. sad

Upto a point Lord Copper. Doesn't take a genius to work out NW would really like SWP, and if he had been given funds in the summer he would have signed Routledge, so Puncheon prob not his first choice. Warno admits on Talk Spot he is under a lot of pressure to sign players quickly to give us a chane till Christmas. I'm sure Neil does rate Puncheon and like everyone else I will hope he works his magic on Puncheon just as he has on many others. But even Hill and Derry, brilliant though they have been, were cheap temporary fixes in that I don't think anyone assumes they will be around for us for years and years. In an ideal world we would not be signing players who, if we progress well, we will be looking to off-load a year down the track. We have done so much of that already, which is why we have a squad full of fringe players. Its hugely difficult but I think we have to hope with this money that Neil can buy some really top players who we can build a team around for a few years to come. Easier said than done I fully appreciate...

Kevin McLeod has just signed non contract terms for Braintree Town. Would still be a better option than Puncheon. As would Doudou. And yes, I've watched Puncheon many times from youth, to non league, to PL.

Sorry just don't rate him one iota. Other opinions are available.

                      Well said Paul.

I hold my hands up, I was one of those that was a little sceptical of the signings of Derry and Mackie and they have gone on to be 2 of our best players. If Warnock thinks he's up to the job that's good enough for me. As you rightly pointed out Gorkks may also go in the other direction which is a good move I think. He was a good player for us in the Championship but a Premiership player he definitely is not!
