Just out of interest, why does this competition deserve contempt....wasn't aware it's done anything wrong, apart from people losing interest in it, it's been part of english football history for a long long time, don't really think it deserves contempt!!

Whether it should or shouldnt be treated wit contempt (IMO, no it shouldnt), the fact is that these days it is.

Warnock has always been quite open in the fact he doesnt like cups and so im pretty sure we wont be seeing anywhere near a full strength side tomorrow.

I'm not disputing that warnock will rest a few players....but just interested why it should.be treated with contempt, can understand the bigger teams maybe being against it with having European fixtures 2 fit in, but for a team like us i would have thought teams like us would want to do well in it

To be fair it is argueably the most important trophy our club has ever one (maybe last season beats this). To treat it "with contempt" is a bit harsh...

It's a decent enough competition and I'd be thrilled if we won it. As always, I'll be supporting QPR and hoping we can overcome the Dale.

Really annoys me; this is a cup compo we could win given the tendency of the top 8-10 teams in the country not to bother. As we are (apparently) getting 4-5 first teamers in, play the current first XI, get them fit (Taraabt looks a bit chubby and ring rusty still) and get them used to winning (hopefully).

We already know from pre-season just how bad our reserves are, so why bother even playing them when they are likely to embarrass us just like Port Vale did last season?

If he weakens too much, I can see us losing this one.

Of course, the Club could have got together and promoted this one as a celebration of last season and of Tony Fernandes' arrival. Free entry to all ST holders; £5 to all members; £15 for everyone else, a celebration show before hand and at half time; make it a carnival. And put QPR's Championship winning team out there to play.

Admittedly short notice, but how much would that have bolstered the crowd?

Last year we didn't prioritize the cups as only promotion mattered. The same logic should apply now (avoid relegation at all costs), even though the League Cup is winnable (look at Birmingham).

I would have rested Orr and Connolly if it wasn't for the fact we have no other proper full backs right now, given Hill and Dyer aren't available. I have put Campbell in the side because he needs a match, given he couldn't play on Saturday. Strong bench just in case it is needed.

I think Warnock is crying to offload the likes of Rowlands, Cook, Borrowdale, Hulse, German, and none of them will feature
