  • QPR look to offload Gorkss

QPR and Southampton close in on an agreement that could see Kaspars Gorkss leave Loftus Road in exchange for Jason Puncheon.

Would be a great shame. Very good professional, has put in a number of great performances for us and was a huge part of our great defensive record last year. Good luck to him if he goes.

Hopefully this suggests we are in the market for some better quality defenders, otherwise I'd keep him on as back-up. Unfortunately it always seems just a matter of time till Hall picks up an injury and Gabbidon has a history of it too.

I think Neil likes utility players and that's why the likes of Connolly and probably Perone will be above Gorkss in the pecking order. Its so useful having any player who can play more than one position and if we do sign players of a better quality it will push Kaspars even further down the pecking order.

Would liked to have seen him feature in the premiership and would have him ahead of Perone as back up

              "WE" didnt mate...

              Paladini did...

Hence Neil not even having him anywhere near the squad.

Does seem a shame as KG has done well for us, even more so since he got his hair cut
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

A huge part of our successful defence last season and yet he's about to be shown the door ahead of Shittu and Perone, which if it wasnt for the fact these 2 have just been given contracts i dont think would be happening.

You gotta feel for Kaspars , been a good servant to the club. All I can say is the best managers know when the time is right to make tough decisions, and we've got a great manager. Good luck Kaspars.

I have only seen a small amount of Perone (against Crawley- and I know NW obviously sees something in him and Im in no position to argue against that) but from what I have seen, he isnt in the same league as Kaspars.

Also I would like see abit of faith/loyalty shown to Kaspars after the contribution he has had towards us reaching the PL.

But, as I say, who am I to argue with NW. As QprDave has said, a good manager knows when to make the tough decisions. Wish him well wherever he goes, will be a shame to see him go.

Really feel for the guy - he must be gutted.

I think NW knows that he is just too slow for the Prem though. He's a really good defender but at this level his lack of speed is a major Achilles heel. Also, as I mentioned previously, you really need to try and have ball playing capable defenders in the Prem so it can be distributed from the back and possession retained as long as poss.

Kaspars distribution weakness is also exposed at this level, in my opinion.

Great chap though and if he does go it's clear all R's fans will wish him the very best.

Gotta trust the manager at the end of the day, not done to bad up until this point has he.

Did well for us last season, but he's too slow for the Prem, good decision by Neil I think as it'll pave the way for some new signings in defence.
