What a result!!!!! So proud of the lads for bouncing back from a 4-0 defeat with a 1-0 win at Everton. Great atmosphere and a great performance to top it off.

    First XI:

Kenny - Good performance, did everything confidently and calmly and made some great saves. Had no chance for that Baines free kick though.
Orr - Well done to him, stepped up to the plate when needed and put in 100%. He coped well with the threat of baines and although his distribution wasn't the best, he didn't look out of place.
Hall - Very good performance, dominated in the air and looked confident with the ball on the floor.
Gabbidon - After last week I was worried about his confidence, however he bounced back and put in a great performance.
Connolly- I was worried that about him playing at left back but he put in a solid performance and looked as composed as ever, looks like he's got his confidence back.
Derry - Fantastic performance, put in some great tackles, made some very good passes, ran his heart out and was always in the right place at the right time to break up play. MOTM.
Faurlin - Much improved from last week and I think theres better to come from him as soon as he finds his feet in the premiership. Looked composed and always made himself available, solid display.
Smith - Ran his heart out, took his goal well and a good performance. Definitley gave Warnock a big decision to make about what to do with the winger situation, if smith plays like this throughout the season we can't drop him.
Taarabt - Better than last week but he's fasting, hasn't been well this week and is behind everyone in pre season. As soon as he gets his fitness right we'll see Adel really take it to the prem. Did some nice tricks, made some good passes and it was a good game from him despite not really standing out. Should have got a few more free kicks due to unfair challenges but the ref didn't give them (one in particular where he did phil neville and was took down, but the ref ignored it).
Buzsaky - As I've said all along, he is premiership standard. Played well and hopefully we'll see more from him in the coming games, got an assist for Smiths goal and he put in a good performance.
Ageymang - Very good performance. He may not be the best player, but he's quick and strong, he put their backline under pressure and didn't let them rest. He held the ball up well and was troubling the Everton backline. Got a part to play this season as an impact player. Hope the injury isn't serious.

    Subs:

Ephraim - Great performance, showed he is defensively capable as he handled Baines well so that Orr didn't have to defend against two men by himself (just like smith did) and he injected some energy into the side. I wish he'd run at his man more but I cant complain, he came on to do a job and he did it well.
Bothroyd - Despite having a virus he had to come on due to Ageymang's injury, he put himself about, worked hard, won quite a lot of headers, and his general hold up play was very good.

Was very impressed by the character shown by the team, hopefully we can get the 4/5 additions Warnock was talking about and then we should be ok. Good atmosphere and I haven't seen celebrations for a goal like that in ages. It was a great day out and lets hope we can get some more points on the board at Wigan next week!

Good assesment of the perfomance, apart from Pat. Rarely has a good first touch, and seems lost to what to do with the ball when he has it at his feet.
The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was good to see the home fans stay and clap our team at the end.
The only down side was the scuffles at the back of the stairs. Over zealous stewarding again was it?

Stewards decided that at around 70 minutes people weren't allowed to stand on the stairs (despite them standing there for the majority of the match). Most left it but one steward was adamant that he was going to make sure people followed the rules so it all started kicking off and somebody got chucked out.
