  • How many did we take to Goodison?

The support was fantastic and even gets a mention in some of the papers today but how many loyal souls actually made the trip?

Looked like at least 2000 but could have been more. Any official figures anywhere?

I would say about 1500, which is pretty decent, and the support given the lads was nothing short of being magnificent.

Some said we didn't sell out which, if correct, is pathetic. Not selling out for the first away game of the season is a joke, not as if it's a small game either.

Fair play del for making the game and to the rest of our superb support. However I think you need to take into account finances. 235 miles and talking about needing 120 quid. Myself and many others can't afford this but fair play to the fans that made the trip.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I think we'll have some of the best away support anywhere in the premier league.
There will be many clubs who will not sell-out their away allocations.
A sign of the depressing times we live in.
Except for the wealthy in this country, money is tight for the rest of us.

Sorry if I'm wrong, but didn't we sell out a lot of our away games last season? I can see the financial side of it, but I know people who didn't go simply because they "dont want to waste money seeing us get tonked" which is pathetic.

Oh dear as if people haven't splashed out enough on season tickets

I won't be going to many away games this season, I'll use the live streams on the net

1500 actually equals roughly 10% of our support, we are a small club haven't you worked that out yet? The last time I went Goodison we took about 300!!!!

As I said, I understand the financial side of it, but I know people who didn't go as they didn't want to see us get tonked again. Which, IMO, is a pathetic reason not to go.

Not really its a lot of money to fork out to watched you're team get battered without being competitive. The vast majority of fans who went yesterday when they see that starting 11 must have thought 'what the **** am I doing here'. Stop making out like you're some sort of superfan because that's what is pathetic here. This summer has actually worn a lot of fans out and they can't be bothered with it.

I don't give 2 ****s I won't be turning up to Old Trafford or such like. The novelty means nothing to me I've been these places before....pubs round Bush will be rocking this season playing live matches.

We will all be supporting Rangers

Apparently we had 1800 tickets allocated to us. We def filled the lower bullens where i was but i went with my mate who is an Everton fan and he sat in the upper bullens with the everton fans. He said there werent many rangers fans in the upper bullen. Apparently the lower bullens holds 1500 away fans which we filled and maybe a 100 in the upper bullens so i reckon we had something like 1600 fans there.

I think you have a very good point w12. Your the same age as me and u remember going to the big grounds when we were last in the premier. Del is too young to remember so for him it's more special to see these premiership stadiums. I think many fans that went would of been feeling very nervous about the result. Lets hope we sign some real quality so we can have a few more of them.

Who said I was a superfan? Merely stated that I thought we would sell out this type of game and that people shouldn't not go to games because they think we're going to lose. As I have said, I understand some can't afford it and some are fed up, but after demand for away tickets last season you would think that after 15 years outdside of the premiership that we would sell out our first away game on it. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree though. I do agree with your last point though, wherever people watch it from they will still be supporting us, just expected us to sell out this one.

I was told that there were no Rs upstairs. Downstairs was not a sell-out - could have easily got another 100ish in judging by number of empty seats towards the back and behind pillars. All told I reckon that means we had 1400ish there. Last season, local teams like Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton and Stoke took far less to Goodison.

I dare say you have picked and chosen away matches based on the chances you think we have off getting a result in the past, I have loads it makes for a good day out. To be honest I can't be asked with the 4/5 hr coach journeys up north on a regular basis, I'll do a few this season and all the London matches but I'll pick and choose.

We were 2000 QPR fans under capacity last week against Bolton, 1500 is a good turn out we are simply not a big club.
