  • Adel?

    Thoughts on today?

watched live on TV, so would be interested to hear from people who where there, looked slow, gave away too many silly free kicks - especially at the end, dead balls not great.

However some excellent foot work my mate visiting said he'd never seen anything like it

Maybe he can do a job in the Prem.... thoughts?

yes he looked too slow, but those around him were not good enough , he gave few great balls, but our performance was not that good, non except adel could hold the ball, we got rid of it easily, turning it back Kenny who plays long balls, I see we are the only team who play long balls in the PL , we still need more confidence there.
and dont forget it s Ramadan and adel is fasting during training days, he needs to lose some weight though plus that s the beginning of the league..

the main thing we need too more signings.

I thougt Adel was the man that was not good enough, in my opinion he was better then against Bolton, but he was still slow and his passes was not good enough. He had the virus and needs too adjust to PL. But he will adjust and that soon.

I only watched a stream, but thought Adel did fine. He lost the ball a bit 2nd half, but I thought he looked tired to be honest.

Overall though he maintained possession really well and did some good stuff. PLayers like that are key in the Prem - we do need to keep possession better and unlock a defence. At the moment we are putting a lot back to Kenny for a boot up which loses a lot of possession.

I'm glad i'm not the only one thinking that..... I thought our passing game was very good at times, didnt see much hoof it and hope at all...

Warnock said Adel's not fit yet, which is what you get for taking an extra couple of weeks off.. Plus as been mentioned, he's fasting and he had a virus...

              He will come good...

I thought Adel was good, in a different way yesterday. Yes, he did a couplf of frustrating things where he lost the ball, but I noticed he played a lot more "simple" passes yesterday, and this was great to see. It wasnt all about showing off, but there was a bit of showboating too - some which worked, some didnt. For me, it was nice to see him play more simple passes, and I think he must have acknowledged that the team (especially first half) were playing some nice football on he deck, which I dont think he is so used to! Shame he wasnt put through with a better ball at the end by Bothroyd, as he may have scored

Combine that with sickness from the virus, and I think it's incredible that he made it through the whole match, considering he usually gets subbed at 75 mins!!

Hats off to him to be honest. Didn't have his best game, but not through lack of effort...

Also not seen him have a proper strop yet!

On the positive side side, he used his skills for the team not like last season. Correct me If I am mistaken, but I thought he looked a bit not interested. Perhaps he is disappointed for not moving to PSG.

OK we should give him some rope till then I think. He'll lose some weight for sure and will probably come into his own September/October onwards.

He did ok I thought, definitely not fully fit though but kept it simple at times and played his part in making a solid unit.

On a side note - just while talking about talented young players I thought Ross barkley looks like he could be a real star. Great for England at the moment with some real quality midfielders. Wilshere, Barkley, Cleverley and Frimpong - a few others too.
