if we can get SWP on loan for year or Parker on loan that would be ok in my mind. Clyne, Bullard, another fall back, want Snodgrass ;great player and would fit our wage structure

I know for a fact that we are leading in offers for swp. We have offered the most at £50k a week. Trouble is, swp thinks he still has a future at man city. I had dinner on Friday night with swp's rep so straight from the horses mouth. Don't know anything about onuha though. Swp is being advised to leave and it is all about who offers the most wages as man city want him off their books. We are leading by about £10k a week

Spending big wages on nomadic premiership players is not the way IMHO.
West Ham were never a team last season but mercenaries. Players like SWP and bullard have never stamped their authority on sides they have gone to even though they have been given every opportunity. Even though we are in a transition phase we have to respect the players who got us up often against all the odds and it was basically the same team that did a Rourkes Drift performance yesterday.
I don't want big time Charlies turning up destroying wage structure/moral and then being no where to be seen in the hard times. Don't want us to be a leeds or west ham. An uncontrolled wage structure is a curse to all premiership teams and must be avoided. Premiership is littered with high earners who have had moves and ended up doing nothing for the new club accept causing financial hardship.
I like the way we added DJ and Bothroyd both compliment the existing team and were players their former clubs wanted to retain but realised they needed to go to the next step. Bullard and SWP are a breed of premiership player that simply
suck the clubs finances without adding much.
Hopefully now with the long term future in safe hands, the club can look for stable and quality signings without resorting to short sighted loan signings or Premiership nomads.

From the way Neil Warnock is talking, it sounds very likely to be true.
He's basically saying "we will have 4 or 5 quality players in by the end of the window", rather than "we hope to have".
That sounds like talks are progressing well, IMO.Be nice to Minty

Unfortunately better quality players come with higher wages,we cannot start thinking about wage structure and how it will effect others coz we will end up with a whole squad of mediocre players.Look at all the big teams, they have players on £60k,£100k,£120k etc etc but at the end of the day its up to the others to up there game and warrant better wages and improved contracts.Remember every position in the prem gets another £750k so if these players make a difference of 5 or 6 places the extra wages are covered.

I really don't think anyone would begrudge Parker coming in on high wages, he was writers' player of the season last year and is a first choice England central midfielder. As long as he or any other higher-wage player was fitting in well personally, trying 100% and not having a big-time charlie attitude I think it would be fine. It would also give players something to aim for.
Bringing in players of no real extra quality but paying loads would cause issues.
I personally thing Akos is a gem we need to make more use of in this division too. I can see him being more important than Adel against better players.
