Great win today, we looked organised and were competitive.

Everton however were poor and still should of had 3 or 4. Connolly should of had a guilt edge penalty given against him in first half also.

We rode our luck and got a result but on another day we would have been punished Bolton esq.

Away days like this should be cherished by those who went, away wins in the PL are a rarity at times let alone for us.

We need new arrivals ASAP, IMO looking at the fixtures we need 7 pts from the next 4 matches to keep our PL status dream on track. It would be good to see 3/4 players in before the end of the week, today we beat a Premier League side with what was a Championship Line up.

I'd be tempted to field a near full strength side against Rochdale to maintain confidence levels and fitness.

Fernandes get the cheque book out and lets crack on!

Agree we need to thump Rochdale with hopefully Bothroyd getting a couple and then get a result up at Wigan. Feels fantastic though to get the first win under the belt.

Nice to see Blackburn,WBA losing and Swansea dropping points.

Given the illnesses, and how knackered some of those players looked late on, I'd expect a reserve side on Tuesday.

I do agree with you - we were lucky at times, especially with Baines' free-kick and Cahill's missed header. However, I do believe that it was an excellent performance from the team - we kept possession far better than we did last Saturday against Bolton and defensively we were so much better. But I don't think anyone is disputing that we need some new signings. I listened to Warnock's interview on BBC London and he seemed confident that we will be making "at least four or five" additions. As for the Rochdale game, he ruled out playing a full-strength team but suggested that Taarabt might play in order "to boost his fitness".

A bit lucky to keep a clean sheet today but on the other hand did not deserve to let in four last weekend.

I have to agree..Evertons first game...before the game i would have been happy at a small defeat...

Having said that, the lads appeared to have played well and NW is right, it could make it slightly easier for possible signings after getting that win...another thumping and maybe players would have thought twice. They may still do...but who knows.

Great result and well played the team

every away game in the PL the oppo will always get at least 3/4 guilt edged chances so in that respect i thought we did very well

seven points out of four? the aim is to stay up. I know a good start is important but for all the reasons you state best not get carried away.

Yes look at the fixture list, I've always maintained we need 10pts from our opening 6 matches, its virtually our best opportunity to get points on the board all season.

It was a great result - there were areas we could have done better, especiallyt 2nd half. We were sometimes poor with posession, looking tired and wasted a lot of decent positions and resorted to pass back and hoof way too much and too early.

Having said that it really is a great result and we could have played really well and lost.

Now we can build and roll on.

If someone had told me 12 months ago we would be in the Premier League and beating Everton away (no matter how fortunate) I would have bitten their hand off. Great result. Let's just enjoy it without over-analysing it.

Whats the point of posting on a football forum if you can't analyse a team performance, you may enjoy posting a load of thumbs up emoticons etc but I want to discuss football.

I pay a grand a year for my ST, I'll analyse the performance till I'm blue in the face if I see fit.

We were fortunate at times today, but at the same time, 4-0 flattered Bolton last week. Balance restored imo.

The way we controlled the game for large periods was immense. Retaining possesion and generally preventing Everton getting any flow or momentum going was impressive. Of course they had some chances but they didn't convert them. We were up against experienced Prem stalwarts and WE prevailed. We are new at this level and we will get better every week as we adapt to the speed and rhythms - rest of division will need to watch out for when we really hit our stride.
