I really hope the Mittals keep their share. If anything, I want the Mittals to eventually buy out Fernades's share! I want the Mittals in full control!
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

All this "he's ONLY worth £400m" makes me laugh.

Do people honestly think that Fernandes hasn't got any co-investors of his own, and is purely doing this all as a one-man venture?

I understand the suspicion, because I know everyone got bitten by Briatore after all the wild optimism when he took over, and fans are wary of these kinds of characters, but this bloke isn't Briatore.

        And I don't believe he's anyones "puppet".

Look, I'm not saying Fernandes is going to splash massive money on QPR, but how about giving him a chance and a decent welcome after all the utter b*llshit from Briatore and BE?

PS: Dave Whelan at Wigan (a Blackburn fan) is "worth only £200m".
Steve Gibson (who is a Boro fan) is worth "only" £120m.

Fairplay mate thats a good post that raises good points. With regards the wealth od Wigan and Boro owners, I was guna say something along the lines of "but they bring in more money through revenue" but then realised Wigan have a sh1te fan base and so this isnt true at all!
If we can stay up this year, the money brought in purely frmo being in the PL should be enough (with an owner in charge that wont pocketit all!) alone to bring in a few decent PL signings. Then if the owner is kind enough to wack a few mill in out of his own pocket too, then we should be laughin!

Fernandes may have co investors but with his supposed wealth of £400M does he really have the clout to take this club to the next level of establising us as a Prem team, Which would probably mean him spending somewhere in the region of £100M over the next 3 years (DONT SEE IT) + whether he is prepared to stump up money for new ground which we will desperately need to stay in the Prem. He may just be on an ego trip remember he's tried to buy other clubs without success. surely as fans we want the Mittals to stay involved and possibly take over fully, and they deffinately have the clout/money to take the club to where we would all love to be.

I'd be happy as long as we an owner who 1. cares about the club and 2. isn't a certified head case.

Even if Sooty came in with a late offer and put Sweep in charge of running the club, it couldn't be any worse than what we have now.

Nah, Sweep would just be a puppet.

Oi, Mr Leveller, don't you realise that this site can't cope with your realism. All this lot want is Tony to come in and splash cash irrespective of whether its a proper 'investment' or whether he simply loans the club more increasing the already un-sustainable debt of the club.

A club with a ground worth £25m, security against an unpaid loan against a debt of £45m at the start of LAST season (hatre to think what it is now) - technically insolvent already methinks.

So, let's get Tony to lend us another £50m and see how we like life in the Championship with a £100m debt around our necks!

The first thing to do is to understand ALL financial liabilities the club has (starting with the debts to Dunga and Calliendo). Then get rid of Paladini's dream team of reserves on ridiculous money and long term contracts despite not contributing to the promotion.

I just hope that Asian Tony has all this in hand and has a plan to reduce the wage bill significantly and bloody quickly. We need a more streamlined, quality squad full of players who don't like being injured and will pull their socks up when it gets even tougher than Saturday.

That a'int gonna happen in a hurry; he will need to see how things go and then determine whether his plan is survival or (probably more realistically) rebuild from the Championship.

I just don't think he can do this alone, so I hope that he gets together with the Mittals and that they truly **invest** in the club...

Tbh mate, althoguh what you say does make alot of sense and I respect your post, none of us know any details whatsoever about the financing of this "takeover" or where moneys coming from etc, but it just seems an instant reaction for people to think the worst and be all negative. Its a takeover and losing T&C were talking about here, shouldnt we be happy, isnt it what weve all been after for a long time?

                        Keep up Matty.

If we're going to be relieved of one problem, then we need to replace it with another, lest we harness an attitude of positivity.

                          .
Both clubs carry massive debts running into 100's of millions as neither Gibson nor Whelan no longer fund them from their own pockets.

Fair point. But in the case of Boro, that's because they were relegated. And Gibson hugely over-stretched himself. Fair play to him, but he over did it on his wealth. Which is a fraction of Fernandes'.

Wigan are ok (for now), because they are still a PL club. It's servicable.
If they go down... different story.
They'll be another Wimbledon if/when they drop. One bad managerial appointment, and they're gone.
                            Zero fan base.
