  • Takeover or not...is it too late to save us from relegation?

Personally I think it is......IMO our fate was sealed at the start of the summer, it will take a miracle to keep us up.

This is a 38 game season and every match counts, we do not have time to bed new players in at level hoping they will instantaneously gel with the rest of the squad. Our 'easiest' run of matches are our first 6 and thereafter it just gets harder and harder....check the fixture list.

Listening to Warnock in recent interveiws he has had the fight kicked out of him by Briatore / Ecclestone and being undermined by Paladini (does anyone really think Warnock handed contracts to Ramage and Shittu).

Our preparation for the new season has been amateur, the fans have been kicked in the teeth and the manager mugged off completely. Simply bringing in a new board will not eradicate the damage done, it will IMO take a relegation now to put it right.

We have no defence its not a case off just bringing in a centre half, we need a new back four practically. This deal has been left far too late to have a necessary impact, personally as an investor I wouldn't do it now, I hope they do but it doesn't seem make good business sense to me.

At the end of the day I've seen village fete's better prepared than the build up for our entry back into the Premiership. Briatore and Eccelstone have left the club with an absolute mountain to climb. I was very sceptical of Tony Fernandes previously but now upon reflection I applaude him if he does take over.

I'm not posting to be negative for the sake of it, I post as a fan filled with dred about the forthcoming season. I just feel we are 2/3 months behind our relegation rivals in preparation and by the time we start seeing progress it will be too late.

I dont think it's to late if we manage some points in the next 5. We cannot be left behind by more thn 6 points.
In terms of players I think the backroom staff could settle players in and make them gel. It helps when the players are obviously very supportive of each other.

The club is a joke and the last 3 months have been criminal which proves that t and c have done the bare bare minimum to get by, but us fans see through them. I'd the takeover is not complete in a week I will worry as transfers and loans can take a long time to go through. Touch wood every1

        Don't be ridiculous !!

There will be many a twist and turn over the next 9 months but to say 'OUR SEASON IS OVER' after ONE game is stupid !!

EVERY team will be changing/ tinkering with their squads prior to 31.8.11 and in January !!

We need to win a couple before October when we face Chelsea..minimum...

New faces needed this week. Wanock knows it, Fernandes knows it and Amit knows it...

They need to act, and act fast.

this is for comedy purposes right?

Yes were in a state, yes weve had an abso mare of a first game, yes our current (hopefully not for much longer) owners are a couple of w1lly-ends, but to say its too late after 1 game is comical !

Anything can happen mate. Especially with a takeover looking imminent (and actually realistic for once!). We all know its going to be a long hard slog with a few heafty beatings in the process, but come May I'm sure we'll still be there fighting our corner along with Swansea, Blackburn, Wigan and Naaarrich.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

                  Valid points old chap..

and nothing would please me more than for your fears to be allayed but like you I feel that we will end up humiliated on a regular basis and relegated to boot...

Those who trust and think that NW will keep us up with our rag tag and bobtail squad are dreaming as even Derren Brown would struggle to conjure enough points to keep us up with the players at his disposal..

Flabio and Ecclserunt have well and truly had a huge grin at our expense....

Read what I wrote, I said our season was ****ed royally at the end of last season, this thread is not a knee jerk reaction to one result it's the anger at our overall preparation. You just simply change and tinker a squad facing a relegation fight from the off, you prepare like Norwich and Swansea do.

Past the next 5 matches how many points do you think are realistic up to xmas?

Have to say a little more optimistic than I was-provided there is some money to spend before the transfer window (august 31) closes. But I fully expect that even if a takeover happens in the next week, it will still be an uphill battle and the most likely outcome this season is relegation. Love to be wrong, but think I'm on the money with this one. We might finish higher than 20th though, (which is our certain finishing place if T & C are still running the show come Aug 31).

It isn't too late if we are able to make changes - but that is the big question. We always talk like we still have time, but the clock is ticking and the choice gets smaller....even if we do get some money.

Hypothetical, but would you have made the same post of we just lost to a lucky last minute deflected goal? We would still be in the same position in terms of points.

I have said all along 4th from bottom would be a great acheivement and that is very possible still.

Well I think as he is new and coming from the outside; Fernandes recognises this, and we know Amit speaks to Neil..

Whether it happens or not is another thing!
