  • Interesting comment from a Gooner

He actually quite likes Warnock and Rangers but said he worried for us when he heard Warnock say he was so relieved he wouldn't be visiting all those tough Championship grounds this year. NW, he said, didn't seem to grasp that compared to the Prem those grounds were easy - he wondered whether Warno fully understood what a massive step up it is.

My own view is that he does understand - its the (hopefully old) board that doesn't.

Warnocks mind games. Nothing to worry about
    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
    And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

I think he's missed the point somewhat.... he was relieved he wouldn;t be visiting those grounds, because if we were that would mean we werent in the Prem.

Does your mate honestly think Warnock thinks Prem grounds ala, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Anfield etc will be easier games...?

He didn't mean in the respect of difficulty, he meant the wonderful stadium and places that you play in.

Fair enough, but don't really get this tourist-like excitement about going to Old Trafford or whatever if we are just going to get tonked. Call me unambitious but I'd rather see us win 2-0 at Watford than lose 6-0 at Old Trafford - no interest to me how lovely the ground is or how breathtakingly brilliant the opposition players are.

Yeah, the gooner's reading too much into Neil's comments.

I think the comment has been taken well out of context.

Small steps.... Many teams get tonked at Old Trafford, it's no major disgrace. Arguably Arsenal's greatest team were done 6-1 and Roma 7-1 not long ago. For us it would be irrelevant, other than GD issues, as we are not competing against them.

The challenge fo us is to get enough points at places where we can to stay up and if we do that, i won;t care if we lose 6-0 at Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc as the majority of teams we need to compete with will get nothing at those places either.

We were never going to come up and compete with those teams in our first year, with time maybe, but not yet, so if you'd rather see us win at Watford, what's the point in dreaming of promotion in the first place?

I like to see my team win.
                  End of.

Not all of us see the Prem as the be-all and end-all of football -- I can't remember the last time I hated a game as much as I did Saturday -- in the knowledge that we may well sit through lots more like that. We will, because that's what fans do, but when people say, "oh, let's enjoy it while we're here", you wonder what they mean when it comes to the tonkings.
Will be at Everton, but it will be another tonking, no doubt.

LOL (it had to be dropped)

How anyone was looking at this season as one to compete, and see us 'win', is beyond me. We are in a dog fight, and even with funds, that would almost certainly still be the case. I am here to watch my team, no matter what. Win, lose or draw, as long as they put in a shift, I will at least have something to keep me going. For the 1st 60 minutes, they done us proud.

What I cannot accept is when we decide to roll over and die. That's when I feel cheated of my money. As gutted as I was on Saturday, I felt a few of those boys could hold their heads high.

And to suggest that anything a Gooner has to say is "interesting", laughable tbh.
