Did pre-season hurt us?

I know we had that "thingy" in Italy but i wonder was the quality of opposition in the run up to the Bolton game one of the reasons we never really turned up? Did we spoil ourselves hammering the non leaguers?

To be honest we would probably been better off facing one of the big boys first game as expectations would have been lower and we would have been more cautious.

Instead we went for the win and soon learned that mistakes are punished (yes they had some luck, but we made mistakes) and teams are more composed in this division.

We learned a lesson - lets hope we can adapt as a result.

well the least expensive would be to catch one of the few bus and coach options to the city. When you arrive and walk outside arrivals there are some bus stops there running passengers to town. Airlink 747 is the one to look out for, should be on the bus stop too. Where exactly you looking to go?

I know the Gresham. O Connell street tho yeah? If so then you are smack in the middle of everything. Fancy hotel too. A cab would set you back about 40/45 euro i,d reckon, 6 euro on the bus i think. And the bus will serve O Connell st. you travelling alone? alot to pay for a cab alone like.....

Pre-season is only about getting fit. Loosening limbs, running, shedding the extra pound or two of weight.
Quality of opposition in nothing games, matters very little.

did pre season HELP us last time cos we were champs playing near on the same opposition
imo qpr need to be in decent mini tournaments like arsenal,spurs etc....
or arrange, in advance a tour to norway,ireland ,holland, germany
why must we go italy , at late notice, to remote gaffs???

if we had taken one of the many early chances v bolton, many mbs would be full of cheer and how great we are and europe beckons (lol)!

i think the poor quality of opposition in pre season has hurt us as imo i think we should play at least 2 games against teams of the standard of the prem,the tempo would be higher n would get the players upto fitness better. i know last year it worked but this year we are up against better skilled & conditioned players so needed a harder pre season.
