  • do we need to adjust our system for pl?

looking at it today tht 4 2 3 1 system withought pacy wingers doesnt work, we were too exposed down wings and thought the middle

think we need to change and play dj and bothroyd up front, only problem and not actually sure if a problem after today but no place for adel

    maybe a 5 3 2 , or back to 442

Well, it won't take long for teams to suss that we keep playing the ball back to Kenny to lump it upfield and they'll start putting forwards on the shoulder of our defenders to latch onto any casual back pass or to make our defenders play it themselves which they aren't comfortable with.

Said this before the season kicked off, No way can you play a front four and accommodate Tarbs in a free role, not in this league and not against the players you'll come up against. When we don't have the ball we must go 5 in midfield, we simply cant play this attacking style we will be far to easy to play through.

problem we going to find is attracting players to us when everyone writng us of already, were going to have to offer massive wages otherwise no chance of attracting, in the mean time have to shore up

We need to change the system of who we buy and how much we spend on them.

I've always felt we'd need a period of adjustment to the Prem. Despite recent articles alleging how fit we are (which I took with a pinch of salt) I've had doubts about our ability to cope with pace/power/movemenmt of the better players now up against us.
I'm not sure how feasible it is to prepare on the training field for the step-up and I expected to struggle a bit in opening games. Overall yesterday I think we were undone by players breaking from deep and I back NW and our lads to quickly suss this out and address matters.

The formation will work but only if the attacking three defend properly and we defend as a team rather than leaving it to the back four / and two central midfielders.

4-4-2 would be suicidal in this league and we dont have the players. What was shown yesterday was the difference in pace / strength and economy of effort that is required in this league Bolton took every chance they had, they took two touches where we took three, and our lack of pace throughout the team left us exposed.

Where I would be concerned from Warnocks view is what Jonathan pierce picked up on in the commentary yesterday. We were physically shot after 65 minutes, so we have a fitness issue that needs to be addressed ASAP

it's a great question. I think that we need to change. We got used to winning and being attacking last season - we could try that this season, but it often ends in relegation for teams of our capabilities - and anyone who talks highly of Blackpool for "giving it a go" needs to remember they went down and from a decent start too.

NW is a great manager - but his speciality is getting teams promoted. He needs to show that he can tactically compete in the Premier League.

agree we need to change, last year if we lost the ball generally the qualit not there to punish us, our attackers were just to slow in getting back leaving derry and faurlin exposed , they kept going over to cover the sides leaving massive gaps between, ironically i tihink our defense did ok for the most part, just coouldnt cover the ground on our own, , would like to try 5 3 2 as think we need to play the front 2 as they look like they got goals in them but we desperatley need to shore up at the back
