I thought the first 40mins we looked good and the better side. At times played some decent football and defended well against Kevin Davies who is a handfull for any team. Gabbidon looked good for the first 40mins, Bothroyd looked sharp and Adel was just Adel a joy to watch at times and frustrating at times.

Then bang!! out of nothing Gary Cahill scores a worldy!! You know your with the big boys when a centre back pruduces a moment of magic like that. IMO the goal killed us and after that we just fell apart. In the 2nd half we resorted to hoof ball to DJ Campbell who is 5 foot whatever and being marked by Knight who is a monster of a centre back!! Bothroyd out wide? Adel was quite in the 2nd half, but I would of kept him on the pitch as he is the only player we have who can be quite in the game, but with one moment of magic would get you a goal. When he was subbed we definetley didnt look like scoring or creating.

    Bothroyd MOTM for me.

Agreed with most of that, however Adel started well and then continued to fade and not surprised he came off. I thought tommy smith made a couple of good runs into the box when Adel came off, I wouldn't say close to scoring though. Don't think it really mattered as we played right into boltons hands in the second half.

On a separate note. Anyone think Warnock really needs to stop Adel taking set pieces - this is not about Adel anymore - it's about survival and his set pieces are not helping.

Dont think Adel would last the full 90. He's fasting because of ramadan and he's two weeks behind everyone in terms of fitness and, at 3-0 down, no point risking him.

            Fair assessment mate.

Taarabt is fasting & can't consume food or water so not surprised he was taken off he was probably f*cked.

Defo not a 4-0 game though.

Before today Bolton had taken 1 point out the last 36 away from home. The standard in the Prem is unforgiving and we simply do not have good enough players. But we all know that, stick together and hope we can get enough points to at least keep it interesting.

                Wow 1 from 36?!

That's made me feel so much worse.

Cheers Rick. Reality is really setting in now.

Agree with Robbo - except I thought Derry was our mom but not important.

The set piece thing has been frustrating me since last season and really does need addressing. Taarabt is too wasteful at all set pieces, not just free kicks. His corners today were awful - one down the keepers throat and another straight over everyone and off the pitch. (Sure someone will counter that with the Bothroyd header before half-time.)

Yeah Ric no food or water from about 3.30 am to 8.45pm. Must be hard to play to his ability when he's doing that.

Yeah bolton's away form last season was shocking.

Good post and I agree, we lost our shape 2nd half and they dominated the midfield. Faurlin had a stinker to be fair.

Just had a text from a mate who supports man u.

He said just lost 0-4 to a bottom half side, what are united going to do against u boys?

After thinking u glory hunting c***, I did think my god he has a point.

I said in a different post that with our defence, I can see united beating us 8-0 at old trafford with there gifted attacking players. Frightening really.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

We've played Blackburn, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Man U away in cup games in recent years and I don't remember us getting turned over in any of them. Mostly slim 1-0s and even one victory in there.

I know people will state that cup games and Premier league games are different but I think it's better to think of today as first day nerves and we'll gain some consistency once things settle down (at least that's what I'm telling myself or I'd go mad )

Hopefully the top sides will use 'squad' players against us. Then again someone like Man Citys squad players are better then most teams in the world

I was at the man u game in the carling cup. They played there 3rd team, although tevez did play and he looked lively.

Man u have an incredible squad and I think there 2nd string could put 4 or 5 past us. With midfielders like Young, Valencia, Nani, Giggs, Park, Cleverley and anderson I am shi tting it with whatever side they field.
