3.5mil spent HOWEVER.. we thought we had 2 wonderkids last year in parejo and ledesma..

now parejo outright failed.. ledesma however started well - albeit against less superior opposition.

try and keep the pressure off him as much as possible because i expect its gonna be a hard first few months gettin used to the league / english game and how our club is run / supported

We are definitely the biggest moaners that I have every come across
We give out that the board won't spend money and when they do there is so many people warning us not to expect to much!
Surely we should rejoice in the fact that the board has spend 3.5 million on one of our managers targets??

        Good post.
I just hope it works out this time and I hope they get him in the gym and work on his strength
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

He came from an equalivant to Championship team in Argentina, but their best player. Surprised we spent that much, but if you want to fend off other clubs, you have to do that.

Hope, it shows that we can match anyone when buying a top striker.

Don't know, but he is only 22.

Wouldn't surprise if our scout has watched him a few times, (he found or certainly noticed Maradona) and backed up with Gorman's knowledge thats why we went for him.

we just broke our record transfer fee

he's 22 and was wanted by clubs much much bigger than us. Gorman wanted him, Magilton agreed and Gianni convinced him that we were a better bet than Inter!!

Surely we're moving in the right direction???

                    Scott have u been drinking?
I am pleased with the signing but it is an awful lot of money.
That kind of money could of been spent on areas we need to improve and going on last season that is strikers.
Lets just hope there is more to come otherwise he won't have any decent striker to put these chances away. We need a striker with pace so we can start playing through balls.

                      Sorry, I keep hearing that.

I look at it differently. Its the not the end of our spending, and if we spend that kind of money on a midfielder, we can be patient to get the right kind of forward.

For example, (only an example) as I don't know if we will go for him. Someone like Kamara is being offloaded by Fulham for around 2.5 million, before this signing I would say no chance, but clubs, managers and even agents now know we mean business. In the past fees have been undisclosed, mainly due to not allowing other clubs to know what we will spend, but this shows clear intent and does show other championship clubs we are not afraid to get the chequebook out. Thats a big difference to our buying policy of the past

                        Kamara would be very good.
Just the sort of striker we need.
Yes you have some good points.
It was a bold statement not to hide the fee for a change.
I think now they have dipped there toe in the water they will want to swim, so although my post may sound negative it is a very positive move by the board.

Don`t get me wrong i`am over the moon about this signing, and he did play for River plate who themselves are in the Premiership of Argentinian football. But no one knows how the 3.5 million fee is broken down, and having the king of spin,in Mr Russell, leaves a few of us sceptics, scratching our chins.

If we want the board to learn from their mistakes, then let us fans learn from ours.

If he has a good start, let's not call him 'The New Stan' as some did with Ledesma.

If he starts badly, let's keep off his back for a while and let him try to settle down.
We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are...

Just as a matter of interest, anyone know what has happened to Parejo and Ledesma? I know neither quite worked for us - though I wd have given Ledesma more time - but my hunch is both will become v successful footballers. I completely echo the earlier sentiments and we should get behind this lad and accept he prob won't be the best tackler on a rainy night in S****horpe, but that he will - hopefully - bring other fireworks to the party.
