  • Premiership Suicide Game

    Morning all,

A colleague emailed me the below game and I thought I'd share with you all.

I thought someone might want to organise this for the site or take it and organise with your colleagues or friends.

Sorry if posted in the wrong forum.

    Anyway, here it is:

For those that haven't played before the rules are below:

"Premiership Suicide" is as simple as it gets.

The competition will start with the weekend Premiership fixtures commencing on 13th August 2011. All you have to do is predict ONE Premiership team to WIN. If the team you pick wins then you are through to the next Round. If your team doesn't win (i.e. draws or loses) then you are out of the competition. The competition will continue each week until all entrants have been eliminated leaving only one person left - he/she will be declared the winner and scoop the prize fund.

All seems pretty easy - however, here's the catch. Once you have picked a team for the round you will NOT be able to re select them in forthcoming rounds. For example, if you pick Aston Villa in Round 1 and Spurs do indeed beat Everton - you will be successfully through to Round 2 - however, you will NOT be able to select Everton again in ANY of the following rounds. Therefore, your next pick in Round 2 will have to come from the remaining 19 Premiership teams. The competition continues each week with contenders dropping by the way side eventually leaving the last man/ woman standing.

It is £10 to enter of (obviously this is a one off payment made with your round one entry - no more payments are made after that). I will send out the fixtures at the start of each week and just need your team for that Round by 23.59 on the Thursday (GMT). I will then distribute everyone's selections before the weekends games.

    Round 1 fixtures below:

    Saturday, 13 August 2011
    Blackburn v Wolverhampton, 15:00
    Fulham v Aston Villa, 15:00
    Liverpool v Sunderland, 15:00
    QPR v Bolton, 15:00
    Tottenham v Everton, 15:00
    Wigan v Norwich, 15:00
    Newcastle v Arsenal, 17:30
    Sunday, 14 August 2011
    Stoke v Chelsea, 13:30
West Brom v Man Utd, 16:00

    Points to note:
    i) In the event of a tie - i.e. last two (or more) entrants standing go out in the final round then the prize pool is split evenly.
ii) In the unlikely event that we still have more than one contender left after 20 rounds (i.e. each remaining entrant has selected all 20 premiership teams successfully) - all 20 teams will become available to select for those entrants still alive.
iii) In the unlikely event that a Premiership fixture gets postponed or abandoned, the result of that fixture will be treated as a DRAW (irrespective of any scoreline at the time of abandonment) - therefore anyone having selected either team in that round will be knocked out of the competition. However - if over 50% of the fixtures (6+) in any one Round are postponed/ abandoned then the Round will be deemed void. Each entrants selection made in the void Round will become available to them for reselection with immediate effect.
iv) Only full weekend Premiership fixture schedules will be used for this competition.
    v) Any entrants left in the competition after the final weekend of the 2010/2011 Premiership season will split the prize pool evenly.
vi) - Please ensure that your nomination is valid (ie you have not selected the team previously). I will NOT be checking the validity of your nomination. This is YOUR responsibility. Any invalid nominations will result in elimination. I cannot be clearer on this.
vii) – A nomination needs to be clear. A nomination such as “City” or “The Scousers” or “United” or those “Cockney ****” will be deemed invalid and hence you will be eliminated. I will NOT be clarifying with anyone the validity of your nomination. This is YOUR responsibility. Any invalid nominations will result in elimination. I cannot be clearer on this.
    viii) My decision is final
    Here for the weekend.

I get the game mate, played before its a good laugh, cheers for sharing! But is the following a mistake?...

"For example, if you pick Aston Villa in Round 1 and Spurs do indeed beat Everton - you will be successfully through to Round 2 - however, you will NOT be able to select Everton again in ANY of the following rounds." What has picking Villa got to do with Spurs beating Everton? Should it read as follows:

"For example, if you pick Spurs in Round 1 and Spurs do indeed beat Everton - you will be successfully through to Round 2 - however, you will NOT be able to select Spurs again in ANY of the following rounds." ?

Also should it not read 2011/2012 season
Opinions are like A******s, everyone has one, but nobody wants to see the other guy's.

          Ah, sorry.

The person who sent is for some reason starting it on 27th August. I changed it to the 1st week, including the fixtures and obviously didn't screwed it up. You should only condider Spurs and Everton, ignore Villa

Even if this is supposed to be 2011/2012, it means you can only claim part of the prize pool if you have gone thru the whole season winning every game ?? Yeah, right.

                  Did Ecclestone create this game?

As far as I'm aware, when it gets down to being the only 1 left (ie 6 weeks in usually) then that person gets a "win" to his/her name, then come the end of the season the most "wins" ... wins lol
