Interested to know why he wasn't ready for his move to Birmingham Ric? Certainly wasn't too young and had a decent stint at Brentford beforehand and had the benefit of a pro apprenticeship before dropping back into non league.

Leeds were collapsing at great alacrity yet Viduka still managed over 10 goals that season and Leicester were nowhere near in such a state.. Not sure I buy the comparison there. You could argue that he never got a fair crack in the team after Allen got the boot but Pearson would have had a good look at everything in training and games before giving the boot.

Could be that he didn't perform and those managers didn't think he was good enough.

Don't want to decry the lad as he can probably do a job but the talk of some whooping it up like we've signed Aguero and Messi is a bit much. Back to the old condescending hashtag someone earlier posted to me #realism.
Got a fair old knowledge of the game aint ya Nodge! Fair play to ya
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Don't think he was ready for his Birmingham move for personal reasons of his not footballing & I know this as fact & from the horses mouth.

Has matured very much in the last few years & I honestly believe we are getting a player approaching the peak of his game.

I agree about the other players you mentioned who had 1 electric season but bar Forsell perhaps I'd say DJ was the most natural finisher of the lot.

He might be Kevin Phillips, he might be Michael Ricketts. Had lots of chances and at 29, doesn't have time on his side. Not saying he's a bad signing given finances or even a bad player, but statistics and opinion can be skewed to show anything.

        Choose your poison I guess.
Back to what I was asking you? Exactly who are you referring to when saying we should be aiming higher than the 6th top scorer in PL

Fair enough. Birmingham probably isn;t the best club or place to settle - can appreciate that

You do realise that 6th top goal scorer doesn't automatically assume 6th best player? I did wonder why Man City went for the 4th top scorer in Spain instead of the cheaper domestic option.

I've commented a few times on this over the past few days - with the finance available Campbell was perhaps the only option. Doesn't mean he's great or world class or anything, just means he was within our means *if* he signs. Other options out there for not too much more investment were Kenny Miller, Graham, Long, Fryatt, Roberts. All better players IMO. Happy to be proved wrong.

Kenny Miller - Championship standard player. Graham, double the fee and not worth 3.5M IMO, Long - Leicester have just lodged a bid of 7M for him by accounts!!!!. Roberts is getting on and has also said he is content to stay put. Fryatt, ok I buy that one but he would be at least the same cost and has never scored a goal in the EPL - so talking at the level we are, DJC has to be the best option.
No one, it seems is saying he is a superstar and no one is suggesting he will hit the heights of say Ferdinand in a Rangers shirt. But consider this, if he didn't have that release clause, he would have been sold for considerably more than 1.3M meaning, in the Warnock style, he is the kind of player worthy of a punt.

Miller's consistently scored goals in the CL and internationally, played for two of the biggest clubs in the world, something DJC has never done, plus scored 11 goals in a relegated side from the PL. Now who does that sound like? You mock Miller for the same reasons you praise Campbell. The sword of hypocrisy dangles heavy over your head!

Much like calling dj a one season wonder in the premiership.. Danny graham is hardly more than that currently and that's at championship level.
