      One

      season

      wonder

      ?

Not that I'm not grateful he's signed (?) but remember before we go too overboard that aside from one decent(ish) season at relegated Blackpool, Campbell's career has been patchy (Yeading, Brentford, bombed out of Leicester).

Michael Ricketts and David Nugent precede him

I would put DJ down as a gamble.

We bought him as there wasn't anyone else and in the end we got desperate.

Still, good luck to him and hope he proves me wrong :-D

You've probably been asked already Nodge but sensibly, who would you want up front for us this season?

Maybe so but id still rather take a 1.25mill gamble on a PL "1 season wonder" than 3.5mill on a championship 1 season wonder....
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Very happy with this signing, he will score goals for us.

Not bothered what others think If I'm being honest, although of course everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Good signing. Really is that simple
                Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

You have to realise we're not getting players like Crouch, Keane here.
                  Stop moaning mate.

Depends. If you've only been given £1.25m and all the new PL revenue and ticket price increase are not reaching the playing budget, then your options are somewhat limited.

Personally wasn't convinced by Graham but would have preferred him to Campbell. With a little loosening of the purse strings, players in the vein of Shane Long, Ebanks-Blake and Cameron Jerome should have been attainable.

One season wonder or hitting the form of his career? Time will tell but I for one am glad that we've taken the gamble especially when you see that clubs like Villa were (supposedly) in for him. Could prove to be the signing of the season imo

Read the other threads. I've always, ALWAYS, laughed off the Crouch, Keane and Cole type players coming here.

Credit me with a bit of sense.

Campbell (and Puncheon) are puffed up League 1 players who "may" get away with being able to do a job in the PL short term. I suspect though over the course of a season and a half, they can't sustain it. This is why no other PL clubs tried to buy them.

Apology if my opinion on what constitutes a decent player differs from yours.

                          £8M for Shane Long
                          £5M for Cameron Jerome
                          £?M for Ebanks-Blake
None of these have scored more goals in one PL season than Campbell.

Reading would accept about half that.

Plus - I did say "if the purse strings were loosened a little".

I can see your point, but we've certainly wrapped up a deal for a striker who scored 13 goals in 31 games for a relegated team. Thats fantastic news for us.
Also Puncheon is £1m cheaper than Routs and have proved himself, thats a great deal for Qpr too if it goes through.
We have a serious businessman knocking on our door to invest in our club, we're almost rid of T&C.
We're in the Premiership and have nothing to loose.

To sum up: As I see it, it's happy days for a QPR fan.
