  • Breaking (no pun!) Formula 1 news...

Certainly relevant considering that everything related to QPRs owners, sponsors and potential owners is all F1

Breaking news that Bernie has moved F1 to Sky Sports from the BBC.....details still emerging.

Literally all I know is a handful of quotes "they would be good for QPR", "It doesn't necessary mean a complete take over".

And a few others that were about as cryptic as that ridiculous statement yesterday. So, I have no real idea.

The thought today that Bernie is officially teaming up with Murdoch makes me blooming worried though!

As far as i know as part of the concorde agreement the racing needs to stay on free to air, but the extra services like forum etc.. can be on pay per view.
One for all.... and all for one

Scott explain the link i'm confused, and yes doesn't take much etc etc
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Are you sure - the whole business model is built around sponsorship and exposure on free to air - This was reiterated by Bernie in an interview only a week or so ago

The BBC have lost exclusivity of Formula One. Bernie has sold the rights to Rupert Murdoch. All races, qualifying and practice are for Sky paying customers only...quite how that works e.g. what channel, pay per view or what no one knows.

BBC get Monaco, final race, and the British Grand Prix. And can show highlights.

He’s a little weasel, it wasn't that long ago i watched him give an interview where he stated that the success of F1 was built on free to air services around the world and he didn't see any reason to change that...
Once again he’s proved that he only cares for two things in his life, his daughters and money... :yush:

Yep your correct Scott F1 has now gone from free to air apart from a selected few.

Shame that is what i think help build F1 up were it is, is the fact it was one of the few sports everyone could watch all over the world. If they do a pay per view system like they do for boxing I for one wont be watching anymore, the only way it will work for me if it is on the standard Sky Sports channels that i watch the football on.

                        Sad day

Scott just been told by 2 f1 fanatics that they just heard on the radio that F1 has signed up with the BBC until 2018.

This is from April this year..

Bernie Ecclestone has said reports that Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation is in talks to buy Formula 1 are "rubbish".

This agreement says that the sport should be shown on free-to-air television where possible.

However, the current agreement runs out at the end of 2012, and the signatories are in the process of negotiating a new one.

The BBC currently has the UK broadcasting rights to F1 until 2013.

Bernie Ecclestone dismisses reports that Formula 1 could be bought by Rupert Murdoch's media empire.
