Before we get too excited, Fernandes has been trying to buy bits of West Ham fir years, firstly from the Icelandic consortium and then from Sullivan and Gold. The consistent factor is that he's never shown the money.

    Treat with caution.

Either way, Nodge, I don't think it's him who's going to buy the shares. No way would he want to spend a third of his wealth on us.

I had a warped dream this morning that flavio was in a sitcom and declared he was leaving. Not really the point. True story though. I'd be amazed if anyone is willing to pay 100million for our club? Is that still the bandied around figure?

On 16 December 2009, Fernandes accepted a "challenge" from Richard Branson, a fellow airline boss and the owner of Lotus' fellow F1 newcomers Virgin Racing, where the losing team's boss should work on the winner's airline for a day dressed as a stewardess joking "The sexier the better. Our passengers will be delighted to be served by a Knight of the Realm, but knowing Richard, the real challenge will be to prevent him from asking our guests 'coffee, tea or me?' That would be scary."[7] On top of this, the team also produced a poster depicting Branson in an Air Asia uniform

That's from wiki. Banter. I like him. But, 100 million?

I'd much rather Mallya bought us than Fernandes. Firstly because of a big wealth difference and Mallya runs the most successful football club in India.
                Estamos QPR

Given offish statement I reckon a takeover must be imminient.Whether it's this guys....who knows. I would,kt read too much into comments on his wealth and reputed price. He won't fund the 100m himself, he'll fund a small part and rest will go in as debt I imagine. Also some have said, why would we buy players (eg dj campbell) if owners are going to sell....comparing it to selling your own house...completely different....as a business you still continue on and all these extras get added into purchase price

I think you're all jumping overboard with this one.
Make NO mistake Fernandes is part of a consortium, I looked into him when he was going to buy WHU, he has some v wealthy acquaintences, so may not be a bad thing.
Though why do I not like the idea of a consortium owning us??

Maybe im permanently scarred with the T&C way of taking every penny out...

Have a sneaking feeling his consortium may contain George Gillett....

That may very wel be the case, but I would still say this is a good thing for us, either way. As said, regardless of some peoples thoughts on the Mittal's, I would think that they would be looking to partner with someone who shares the same ambitions as themselves.

I may be wrong, but I'd think that the Mittal's can have some sort of say as to who buys in? Granted, you'd also like to think that T&C can sell to whoever they want, but should it be someone the Mittal's wouldn't want to work with, I reckon they's make it quite difficult.

Totally agree Benny. We seem to be forgettnig that they do own 20% of the club (please correct me if i am wrong with this percentage) and so they will, imo, defiantley have an input as to who they will be working alongside.

seriously though, why would he want to buy QPR for £100M?

If he had Mittal's billions I could understand it, but if he has £800M, why spend so much on QPR knowing that the club needs about £10-15M spent on the squad and more importantly, will need a new stadium otherwise it will keep losing money.
Probably explains why it's a low budget airline then, he can't afford to pay too much all that travelling he must do.

Yes, if Mittals stay involved at least we know all will be above board, Amit and Ishan are a "belt and braces" type of guy, so sounds good.

Why does Tony Fernandes strike me as a kind of more wealthy Paladini ,slimey and underhand???
