      Not negative, just realistic.

You don't stay in the Premiership on freebees. Fact.

      Bothroyd-decent signing
Dyer-Injury prone, past his sell by date
      Gabbidon-same as before
Puncheon (if he comes) - league 1 reject, need I say more
Murphy-Ipswich don't want him, why should we?
Webber-Don't get me started. He would be a very poor signing in the Championship

How is that coming together well?

Ooo hello mr.negative dj is signing but you chose to ignore this. Gabbidon is a good player, dyer (when fit) can be one of the best English midfielders around. Puncheon is desperately wanted by Blackpool after he impressed last year with them in the perm scoring a goal every two games. However routs has NEVER done it in the prem for a reason. Murphy is just back up in case of injuries FFs. Webber, well this one I agree with you about. What would you rather have a tem full of wingers like Swansea or a team full of quality. Bothroyd, Campbell, taarabt... Sounds like a good top 3 to me and with faurlin behind them who knows what is possible. We are not in **** as many of you people on here seem to think. We would be in **** if we did what Norwich did and spent millions on average championship players.open your eyes I can't stand the negativity for no real reason. :yush:

Dj would be decent I agree.

If Dyer and Gabbidon are so good then why were they part of the worst side in the Premiership last year? Also when Dyer went on loan to Ipswich he was apparently average at best.

Also, I've seen Puncheon play a few times...woeful is nice to him but thats just my opinion. The fact is the Premiership is a really tough division and we need to realize that staying up is gonna be increadbly hard. Just look at the sides we are competing with, Wolves, who narrolly missed out on relegation last year have just spent 7million on a defender. I'm not saying that it was value for money but instead we're going into the toughest league around, with the smallest ever budget and people think we will stay up. Its just not realistic.

Whatever happens though, next year I will fully support the team, whoever is playing. I wouldn't mind not spending if the owners didn't keep coming out saying we are ambitious, we are fully supporting the manager and want to stay up because on current transfers that simply isn't true. I just don't expect anything other than relegation as our owners try and do it on the cheap, yet again.

What about missing out on Naugton? Bet thats great news...Just think we need to take our rose tinted glasses off!

Were we in for naughton? They might have been part of the worst team but man united would get relegated with avram grant as their manager. Listen we may not set the league on fire and we may not sty up but we have a competitive team believe it or not and if cambpell signs, our top 3 is the quality of a top 10 side. And that is something which you cant disagree with, surely?

Bothroyrd and DJ (if he signs) are good signings,Dyer if he stays fit could be Ok,but I see where james is coming from, while Swansea and Norwich have been spending millions and showing ambition we (so far) have not,not negative just facing facts, but with Taarabt staying we do have a chance of staying up,but I wouldn't put much money on it

Exactly, I can't fault the owners tbh, just the ticket prices
                Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

At the end of the day the owners are a disgrace and are trying to scrounge every possible penny from us whilst not overly spending however the point I am making is that are starting XI is infact not that bad and I can't see any reason why we don't have a good chance of staying. Newcastle didn't spend much after walking the championship, just saying. We walked it last year and if it wasnt for the fa thing we would have got about 95 points. Our team was far better than Swansea and norwichs and still is. Our first 8 games are important and we should be aiming for top half after them

Yep we were in for Naugton. Warnock quoted 2 or 3 times saying that we were in talks and he wanted to sign him.

DJ, Bothroyd and Taarabt are a decent top 3 I agree...but two of them are unproven in the prem so I wouldn't call them a top 10 yet but there is definitely potential to cause problem to other teams defenses.

Also with Gabidon and Dyer, imo I think you are only as good as your last season and neither of them did anything worth shouting about. As you say though, our offensive options are looking reasonably good. Just a shame we're not signing routs because then I would be very happy with our Midfield/Attack.

What really worries me is our defense.... Orr.. not good enough for the prem imo, walker showed us what a proper RB should be like. Gabbidon...injury prone and past it. Hall-injury prone and often struggled in the championship. Hill....love him to bits but to slow for the prem. Him against people like Nani, Rooney ect scares me.

I can. Promised a lot and not delivered imo. I feel really sorry for Warnock as he has missed out on several targets.

I like your optimism! We'll just have to wait and see I suppose. I just find it really disappointing when we miss out on people Warnock wants to sign because he's not got the boards backing. Especially when its to teams like Swansea and Norwich.

You say that walker showed us a proper right back. Going forward yes I agree but orrs defensive record was actually better than walkers and we conceded less goals. We ad the best defensive record in the country last year there is seriously no need to worry. All I think we are in need of is a dm incase Derry dies and one Fullback. This is assuming that dj signs

I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!
