  • Blind Faith v Realism...

I've read various posts on here regarding the quality of the opposition we are playing in friendlies and players that we are looking at and in particular Danny Webber..

It got me thinking that there seems to be a divide of two camps. One where some are prepared to trust NW whatever (Blind Faith) and another whereby questions are raised and opinions offered (Realism). OK this is very simplistic but not too far off I reckon..

Anyway, it would seem that there are some valid Q's being raised in regards to Danny Webber. I find it almost laughable that anyone could even begin to imagine that he is likely to do anything of note for us next season in the PL when he has done sweet FA of late in the Championship... Do people seriously think that he is somehow going to up his game to such an extent that he will turn into some sort of goal machine? No, I don't think so either....

OK I know everyone is entitled to an opinion but, for the Blind Faithers to just ridicule and start being offensive because some have the temerity to add some context is a little rich.... I think that people have every right to be alarmed at some of the dross we are having to make do with especially at the prices fans are being asked to fork out.....

Now I dare say that by now some are beginning to think hang on, the season hasn't even started yet give NW a chance etc.. he did brilliantly last season blah blah.. which is correct he did... but...

I remember having conversations last season and posting on here that.. what we need is two different teams. One to get us promoted and another to keep us up. OK there are a handful of last season's team that could/will cut the mustard.. PK, AF, and maybe one or two others (am struggling to think of many TBH and AT will be gone).. well, it looks like we are about to go into the new season with pretty much the same team that got us promoted and this will not be good enough to keep us up.. OK I could be shown to be talking complete tripe and very much hope I am but I fear the worst case scenario... abject humiliation.....

Those who have 'In Warnock We Trust' in their sigs may soon be eating their words.

I have every respect for Neil as he is working under impossible conditions. No manager can expect to build a squad for the Prem on frees and loans.

But to accept every decision of his as if it comes from God himself is madness.

Neil is desperate to sign players for free as that is his budget. And Webber would not be here if he had money to spend. It is straw clutching at it's most desperately obvious.

I concur but, have to say that when one is constantly asked to dredge the bargain bucket (as in the 50p CD's in the local petrol station) then eventually graft and team spirit will only get you so far...

Personally, I think it's a travesty that NW is being humiliated in this way and being expected to constantly pull rabbits out of the proverbial magician's hat...

id say the camps are split in adifferent way, those that realise things will be tough but will go along with the optimism that comes with supporting a smaller team and want to enjoy it, and those that are constantly criticising the club the board the players and every story press article and generally everything to do with the club.
my only hope is that once we hit 3pm firt matchday we all get behind the team and help cos fk me they will need our support this season.

I felt the same Van mate until i found out Neils transfer budget was virtually zero.We needed to improve the squad to have any chance of survival. We needed 2 strikers,a centre back and 2 full backs. This would cost money. Not crazy money, just good solid pros like Wigan and Wolves buy.

You can only get so many frees/loans and we have missed out on players like Naughton and Graham, players we could have had on loan or bought for small money by Prem standards.

We are plankton in a shoal of whales waiting to be picked off.

people forget how good the players we have are, bothroyd added.dyer as a sicknote is very good on his day.players chasing the wedge go to chelsea and they still get turned over by the wigans, wolves, boltons, stokes, and brums

My only positive with Webber is that you could argue that Warnock got the best out of him for a while previously so make he can squeeze some performances out of him, if thats the case then he could be useful from the bench.

Not the sort of player i was expecting us to sign but if thats all Warnock has to work with then we need to get behind them and hope
its New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks
