Warnock is great with limited resources, but if Taarabt leaves and we have limited funds for new players we will realistically go down, despite the odd great result. However, please remember that Warnock almost kept Sheff Utd up with similar small resources, so never say never.

I think I will reserve my judgement though until we know whether Mittal will successfully buy the club or not. If there is a Transaction by mid August there is still just about enough time to bring in the extra players to not only keeping us up, but perform quite well, ala Stoke, WBA, Fulham etc.

If the worst happens and there is no deal before transfer deadline ( or too late to make an impact in the transfer market) and we start with a pretty weak side I cannot see B&F sacking Warnock because of poor results without having to provide plenty of money for new players to attract a decent manager in Janury. This is not in B&Fs interest. My bet is that unless Warnock doesn't leave himself during the season he will not be sacked even though results shouldn't be ok.

As we are moving closer to transfer deadline I think the respective owners will be more desperate to clinch the deal, and more tempted to compromise on price (goes both ways), so I am pretty sure things will turn out ok.

If I should make a bet: Mittal as owner around the start of the season, team strengthened and we finish 14th.

                Jeffro,

My honestly held view is that we will stay up and am amazed at the negativity I'm seeing from certain people.

Not wishing to sweep all the bad things under the carpet so to speak, and obviously recognise that the quality of the opposition will be a lot higher than what we faced last season, but let's keep things in a bit of perspective here.

We were Champions last season for a reason, being better than anyone else. Norwich and Swansea have bought in a lot of new players and Swansea have even lost a few key ones. Quite how they are going to do better than us I'm struggling to see. Which leaves us needing only to outperform one other team over the course of a whole season, no problem there.

I know it's not ideal leaving it so late to bring players in, but the signing of Bothroyd surely proves the sense in waiting for the right deal to happen as opposed to rushing around like Norwich buying every unproven prospect in sight. As for Warnock's £1.25m budget, do you really believe that? Honestly? I just think he's got money available but would prefer to spend it wisely rather than recklessly.

Also, as Benny has repeated ad nauseum to those who appear to miss his point, the chances of us going into September with our current squad, let alone January, is unlikely.

Fortunately for those of us who have got our season tickets again, we will have the option to renew for our second successive season in the Premiership, rather than having to go through a Leeds type fiasco in order to get one.

Chin up mate, being positive feels much better than being a miserable sod. My wrists are safe for a few months yet.

Brighton I see no mention that we are losing the player of the championship and WR.

This is no disrespect to the other players but adel and WR were a huge reason we had so much success last season. Those 2 players caused the championship players all sorts of problems. I agree if we have a decent budget then I will hold my hands up and say I was wrong, but we are a far weaker team without wr and adel. Mackie isn't the answer and WR improved us massively.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

if we stay up ,it will be a great effort, so i'm prepareing for a backs to the wall fight for 38 games. every point and goal scored will be well earned, so every one should roll thier sleeves up and get ready to upset the rest of the prem

Understand what you're saying but neither of those two things are definite yet. If they become a fact, then I'm sure NW will know what he needs and will be supported in getting it.

We mustn't discount team spirit/camaraderie and the fact that we have seen how our current players will play their b@lls off for Neil Warnock. That is how we won the league. It's certainly why we had the meanest defence last season - Paddy, Clint, Derry - all pulled off some amazing 'life-on-the-line' saves/tackles/clearances.

Look at Man City's 'quality', but they haven't really set the PL alight yet, because their team spirit/gelling/manager relations are shoite.

If we are all totally honest, we didn't have the best team in The Championship last season. Arguably, Cardiff had a better squad overall. We were probably the 4th or 5th best team on paper.

Taarabt, although massively influential last season had one great game in every three. Jamie Mackie, with his 9 goals should take as much credit for our promotion, I feel. And the tough players like Derry, Hill and Kenny.

Anyway, I'm wandering from my point. It's not all about quality of players. Some teams get by on quality, others get by on team spirit. The best ones probably have both.

With our current squad, team spirit shouldn't be discounted. And we have strengthened in Bothroyd and Dyer, with more to come. It will be tough, but we can do it. 15th to 17th and survival, for me this season.

good post minty - remember last year boro being tipped as favs just because of their many incoming players. It went t**ts up for them. Leicester as of now - many new players but it wont guarantee them anything as yet. Know this is now the prem for us, but the principal is still the same.

i agree ,at the moment it will BE a massive effort ,hopefully fans can play there part , giveT&C the bird as they take there seats ,then get behind the players and as Facto said in another post make it a white hot reception for the oppo' ,as we need all the help we can get
