  • Rules of the 25 man squad from sept 1st.

The new rule states that each club will have to name their 25-man squad by September 1 - the day after the summer transfer window shuts.
Eight have to be 'home grown', meaning they must have spent at least three years training with an English or Welsh professional club before they reached the age of 21.

After that the only players not on that list who can play will be any under the age of 21 on January 1, 2010.

These new rules mean you cannot be fined for fielding your stongest team, any of the 25 can play - however if to many players under 21 a chosen then clubs could be fined.

Surely it should be "you cannot be fined for fielding your WEAKEST team"?!
Also how many is too many re players under 21?
    I'm confused!

      SORRY

Your quite right it should say "weakest Team" - but of course you would not be guilty if you fielded your strongest!

The rules on under 21 do not stated, the number involved and will be judged by the FA as deemed appropriate.

Blimey - bit of a sea change for likes of Arsenal who regularly field an all foreign XI. S'pose it explains why Brits like Carroll cost £35Mil now.
