Really get tired of it treating us supporters like 10 year old kids. Only reporting good news (spin) and pretending everything is fine at Club QPR. Even BBC's Newsround tells kids how things really are and about the bad stuff like war and famine etc "in a nice way".

Now, okay, I'm not expecting the "Ministry of Information" to release every bit of gossip and idle tittle-tattle on it's site but there are ways of keeping us informed of the bad stuff also with a little bit of imaginative PR and and spin.

    For example...

"QPR are hoping to display our new kits for next season as soon as possible. The delay has been caused by (Mrs Doolittle's sewing machine breaking down or whatever?) unforeseen protracted negotiations with our design team and sponsors but we hope this matter to be resolved soon. Whilst we appreciate how frustrating this may be for our loyal supporters we, nonetheless, thank you for your patience."

"Jay Bothroyd has had a medical at Loftus Road. Whilst we hope to complete his signing shortly we understand that he is still in negotiation with his agent and other interested parties and we will let you know if we have been successful (or otherwise) in due course."

Not hard, is it? Not asking for answers to anything, just a bit of clarification on ongoing situations to stop us all speculating with each other and making us more frustrated with the club. The PR really is terrible.

And yes, I am available for hire. My contact details are on their database somewhere. Or they can just send up a beacon over the city and I'll come out of my cave.

Apply for that press Office job if you really want to do it then.

Darn! Once again you meddling kids have seen through my attempt at shameless self-promotion to land a job at QPR.

Now, if you'd just kindly remove my scary mask (why did Janitors only get jobs if they had a vast array of scary mask anyway? ) you will doubtless reveal my true identity...

To answer your question properly and this is absolutely true. Not even I could make this up.

I did apply to QPR last year to work in their PR Department which included helping out on the offish site.

And I'm still waiting to hear.

Brilliant, just go up there and let them know this and tell them this is one of the reasons they need you.

Oh and whilst you're there see what you can find out as we're never gonna hear it from them.

Don't know much about pr, but your kit example is ok as for the bothroyd one, why would any club want to alert people that they are in contract negotiations with a free agent? Let's every club know?

Will do, 80's. But leaving all that aside...

The actual point of the thread is that they just don't get PR and that there are ways of communicating and appeasing fans frustrations even with statements which, in effect, say very little. As demonstrated above.

Tell fans that you are sorry for the delay in the kit and thank them for their patience. Tell them there have been developments in transfer negotiations and are waiting to hear back and will announce it, either way, soon. (Would guess that all clubs know of his availability anyway - well documented).

These are really simple, basic things and It helps keep the fans onside. And it frustrates the hell out of me and others that they continually fail to see this.

Couldn't disagree more about discussing siginings before they are done. Regardless of if other clubs know, if you tell the world you are having on going talks it only strengthens the other clubs positions to swoop in. And you can bet your last dollar that if we lost a player which we mentioned on our site we were talking to that would become a PR problem with people asking why we did it. What people don't realise is that its a corporate site, it will only ever report 100 percent fact.
