If you own a pub then how do you manage to claim back VAT on a QPR season ticket? Your accountant must be pretty dodgy to allow that! I thought maybe you were a pundit or something as I can't see any other reason you'd be allowed to claim VAT back on a ST otherwise.

Oh dear!

1. You would never be able to get away with claiming this as entertaining (there are several tax cases to prove that!); and
2. Even if you could you cannot claim input VAT on anything other than staff entertaining. If you're entertaining staff then you should consider that they will be subject to benefit in kind taxes as well as you having to pay class 1A NI on it too

oh..and yes I am an practising accountant (Partner) and yes I am fun to sit next to at dinner parties!
