I have looked at it as well. Direct trains are a fortune! However, if you buy 2 split tickets and change at Birmingham New Street it is substantially cheaper.

Try Trainline, got 2 adults and 1 kid for £47 but with a travelcard. If you go to a lot of away games you should get a travelcard it will save you a lot.
I booked with Trainline yesterday it was £40 but before the Sky dates came out yesterday morning it was £19.80.The price will rise from now on and will be about £90 the week of the game.Wigan is £41 at the moment.
Disappointing how fares have jumped once fixture's confirmed!
If you're feeling a bit intrepid I notice the London-Chester fares on Virgin are still cheap-ish.
Chester's on the edge of the Merseyrail network - journey into Liverpool is about 35 mins and costs about £6.00 return.
I find trhe Directgov Journey Planner to be pretty smart for finding routes, times, fares etc.
lsa will run travel, on demand to all games outside london...
guesstimate for liverpool etc £30 kids £20
same for wigan/bburn/mancs/bolton
newky/sunnylund maybe £35?
but travel not discussed yet and gary colton will be running the travel and i'll assist if necessary .
if you want lsa travel, please join up asap, members will have the bookings.
last season guests paid £5 surcharge (which is the fee but on the day does not include membership)
