    Jay Bothroyd was today expected to become Queens Park Rangers' first summer signing.

    The striker, who began his career at Arsenal, is a free agent after leaving Cardiff at the end of last season.

    Negotiations with the 28-year-old, who won his only England cap when he played against France last November, broke down last month over his salary demands.

    QPR have a strict wage structure in place but manager Neil Warnock has convinced the board to part with more funds.

    And the newly-promoted Premier League side are also close to agreeing a £1.25million deal for Blackpool striker DJ Campbell.

    Rangers face competition from Aston Villa and Sunderland for Campbell, who was the second-highest English goalscorer in the Premier League last season with 13 goals.

      Agree, as long as we can keep Tabs or bring in another creative player with the money to give them the service think that would be a front two that is as good as half a dozen prem strike forces (or am I getting carried away... :drunk?

          But Norwich have spent ..................

          Good bits of business if they happen. Shows the virtue of patience.

            Bothroyd and DJ could mean:-

            * A 4-4-2 formation with twin strikers
            * See ya Hulse, you waste of space
            * A return for Cooky down the wing
            * The makings of a solid team

            Or, it could mean none of the above. You decide.

                Sorry we are never in a million years going to play 4-4-2 in this league, nearly every other team plays 3 in midfield we would be over-run with 2. If we are getting DJ it is either to play in the 3 behind the striker or as an alternative to Bothroyd / Bench impact

                  442 means no taarabt unless he plays out wide which ain't gonna happen as he won't defend
