  • Nine out of 20 Premier League clubs haven't spent anything yet on new players!

Nine out of 20 Premier League clubs haven't spent a penny yet in the present transfer window:

    Arsenal:£1m
    Aston Villa: £0m
    Blackburn Rovers: £0m
    Bolton Wanderers: £0m
    Chelsea: £0m
    Everton: £0m
    Fulham: £0.35m.
    Liverpool: £27m.
    Manchester City: £13m
    Manchester United: £50.5m
    Newcastle United: £4.3m
    Norwich City: £9m
    Queens Park Rangers: £0m
    Stoke City: £0m
    Sunderland: £28.2m
    Swansea City: £3.5m
    Tottenham Hotspur: £0m
    West Bromwich Albion: £0m
    Wigan Athletic: £4m
    Wolverhampton Wanderers: £5m

Bernie & co weren't unwilling to spend while we were in the Championship so I have no reason to believe they will not splash the cash once again, but in a careful and sensible manner. I expect 5-7 players in before the window closes and I cannot say I have started to worry yet, even though I admit I am impatient.

I really cannot understand why so many fans panic. If we still haven't strengthened the team come mid August I will understand you though.

I agree with you on the whole.

The only argument for getting your new players in early is to give them time to settle in with their new team mates for pre-season, training, friendlies, adjusting to new systems etc. Neil has always liked to do that too and clearly he has been restricted in doing so resulting in inevitable strain on relations with the board. The destabilising changes at board level and takeover rumours certainly haven't helped matters either.

Fair point, but then 8 of those survived in the Premiership last season with the squad they pretty much still have.

We, however, have sold Legs (admittedly not a big contributor, despite an undefeated record in games he played) and let Routledge & Miller return from loans. and we appear to be on the verge of losing our star man / playmaker / enigma / top goalscorer / biggest assist / luxury / biggest asset, etc.

I guess, having taken 15 years to bounce back, we're all keen for our stay in the cash cow to be beyond next season.

Stanley makes a good point about NW aiming to complete his squad sooner rather than later to give the most time for bonding and getting to know otherp layers and systems. It certainly worked well last year, apart from Adel who arrived late but was never considered a Team player by most.

The other concern is around our 'supposed' preferred targets -
Graham, CMS, Morrison (?) all joining others and
Routledge, Campbell, Bullard, Bothroyd all seeming set to do the same.

Mainly due to relative penny pinching (in the grand scheme of things) brought on by the Board criminally underestimating the cost of the Premiership regards current player contracts and to those Clubs we bourght or loaned from, oh and a certain FA hearing, which could have cost us promotion and DID stop me from enjoying it until the final day and DID stop us from having a Parade to celebrate aforementioned promotion.

and also 8 of those nine teams have a full squad of Premiership players and were all there last season one has not got that luxury and with these ridiculous ticket prices being announced imagine strolling up to LR on August 13 and have to pay no less that £47 (Bolton fans are being charged £57 apparently) to see a weaker team than we had last term. That thought alone is quite scary.

This was meant to be a 'Dont Panic' type thread but being realistic, what it highlights is that 11 clubs have spent money, including Norwich, Swansea, Wigan and Wolves, teams if I am not mistaken we will be hoping to finish above three of them, other wise we are fooked.

yes, I think you actually made the opposite point to the one you were trying to make!

It shows most teams are spending and seeing as only three teams didn't have a Prem squad last season it is no comparison to QPR at all.
