Why try and keep hold of Adel and not invest in the rest of the squad. At the moment his value is at a prime for a player with only 2nd tier experience as £12 million is a hell of a lot to pay for someone who is stroppy and can be hit and miss.
What I don’t understand is that without investing and getting better players in for next season, he will be our only creative player, our game plans will be very obvious and therefore he will be marked out of games. With this there is a higher chance of him having an average / poor season therefore the fee we will get for him will go down. If the owners just want to maximise revenue after getting promotion then surely the point would be to sell.
I would hate to Adel go because I love the way he plays (I can even put up with his childish behaviour) but I can’t see I the owners keeping for the reasons above.
Also for what it’s worth I can see Adel’s career stalling if he leaves NW, as the bigger other teams will not build a team around but more importantly his team mates will not put up with his trantrums. I can see him being dropped and sent out like he was at Spuds which is a shame as he has the talent to challenge Messi and Rolando for being one of the best players in the world if he grows under the right guidance.
