Also I dont think its quite accurate to say that "contracts mean nothing". Theoretically speaking, if a club could afford it and had the will to carry it through, could just not sell any contracted player and, if necessary, let him rot in the reserves.

A little idealistic and unrealistic I know, but a point worth remembering nonetheless.

I know. Thats because most clubs realise that keeping an unhappy player is counter-productive both financially and for team morale. So they sell him, but NOT because they have to under the terms of contract, unless there's a get-out clause.

In order for clubs to wrestle back some of the power from the players, more clubs would have to take this type of a sacrificed stand against them for the long-term health of the sport. At first only the ones with the financial clout could afford to do it of course.

Now there's a novel concept! :pleasantsuprise:

The small print: (Not to mention the fact that he's by far our best player and main supplier of goals and assists)
Spot on. Given his bloodpressure is not damaged for life due to last years strops from Adel, I really hope Warnock will get the chance to make him Even a better player this year.

As I see it; Adel needs to learn more about disipline before he can make for a club in La Liga or Serie A.(Wishful thinking maybe)

He threw his toys out the pram when he could not take a penalty, free kick, someone did not pass to him or he was subbed, so god knows what he would be like/do if we held him to his contract when he wanted to play for another team. If the rumors are true about bids being made, I wonder if he will be at Harlington on Thursday.
