  • Are Swansea that much better of than us with there signings

I am disappointed we have not signed anyone yet as much of the next man, but are we any worse shape than Swansea.

Reviewing thier transfer action and yes they signed 2 (Danny G and S Caulker (on loan)) but more criticaly they have lost 2 key players for them that they wanted to keep, as thier goalie has gone to Wolves (De Vries) and Pratley has moved to Bolton.

We have resigned the players that NW wanted and assumming we will sign players between now and the begining of the season, I am not sure all is not as bad as paople are making out.

People might say I have my head in the sand as I am not to worried as I would rarther we make the correct sigings at the correct price, than put our clubs future survial at risk by breaking the budgets. But If i do have my head in the sand, then all the fans that want millions spent recklessly on players and wages with no thought of the potential impact on the future of the club if it all goes wrong have their head further stuck in the sand than me.

God i am looking forward to next season with so much happiness regardless of the players or squad, it is just great to back in the top flight again.
One for all.... and all for one

if they can fill their leaky defence then yeah they will be better. swansea going forward are a good side. and will stayup if they get like 3/4 new defenders. them losing their keeper is a big blow.. be interesting to see who they use.

in central midfield they dont have much depth in quality but do have a decent enough starting XI to make it competitive. their strengths for me are dyer and sinclair. those two give endless problems.

Last season they lost 14 games against our 6, so I think they are in need of more players than us. Having said that, we do need to strengthen, but it's quality we need, not quantity.

IMO, Swansea are in a much better position for survival than we are and regarding "I would rather we make the correct signings at the correct price", when will people understand that the signings NW wanted to make, he was not allowed to or they did not want to come to W12, so whoever comes does sign, will be plan C or D signings.

I think at the moment both Swansea and Norwich are in better shape than us short to medium term.

            1. The fact they will both have treble the amount of season ticket holders at each game is a head start straight away.
            2. Both will have taken the positive momentum forward from last season.
            3. Neither have had any trouble holding onto their "star" players --- we look to not be getting Routledge back, Adel likely to be off, Mackie will need a while to get back into it, Walker unlikely to return so I am justy hoping Paddy Kenny carries on from where he left off!
            4. Both seem to be making sensible acquisitions -- players who excelled in lower leagues and will look to prove a point on reasonable wages in the Prem. If the drop happens then a VERY good Championship squad already in place.
            5. Neither have had any negative speculation about their Managers, ie whispers of the top brasss thinking of replacing them. In fact at Norwich they've publicly rebuked rumours of Lambert going elsewhere.
            6. Both clubs have passionate football people at the top table.
            7. Neither swanse or Norwich have a liability like Paladini hanging on for dear life - at least as far as I am aware.
            8. Neither clubs will have any local derbies next season - I've always thought this counts against London clubs.
            9. Just for HammersmithR --- both had a parade!!!!!

However, take points 1, 2 and 7 aside I still would rather be where we are right at this minute than them.
            We got Warnock
We got a shiney trophy in the cabinet
            We got Adel
            We got Kenny
We got Derry, Clint Hill and Ramage --- that equals something VERY hard to buy and thats passion, spirit and commitment
We got Loftus Road -- just need our fans of old to generate atmospheres like Oldham at home in the play offs and that is worth 12 pints a season.

Kind of went off at a tangent there but hopefully you get my point.

            FFS its only July (again)
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

Not exactly a leaky defence. Ours last season was brilliant, and Swansea only conceded 10 more than us all season.

Let's not forget 4 of those were at our place. As for centre midfield (and in a lot of other places) you could say exactly the same about us....

(FFS it's only (add month of choice))......

                I wouldn't worry,

Danny Graham won't cut it in the Premiership and Caulker is a Championship player at most.

We are aiming higher than those players and we will be brining in some top talent over the comming weeks so don't worry.

Trust me Swansea will finish above us. The way they play is much more suited to the Premiership, they've got pace in their side and play good football. Danny Graham and Scott Sinclair or HH and Agyemang.....you do the maths

We won the league last year because we had the type of players/spirit that is needed in the Championship. Battling qualities, never say die spirit. These qualities are useful in the Premiership but you need to be dangerous as well. We, even with Taraabt are not.

Out of the 3 promoted teams i think Norwich will finish the highest this season.

Not criticising you Olly but just puzzled what you base this confident prediction on?

f'in hope not, got into a row last night over lil ol QPR in the Prem and ended up making a bet with someone for £500 that we will finish above Swansea.

I hope i've done the right thing
