Looking at the squad

Ok so it's 1st July and we have 2 months until the window closes or 5 weeks till the season starts.

Putting aside who is on what contract let's talk frank about each player:

Kenny - good enough
Cerny - ok as back up but not convinced should Kenny get injured
Orr - too slow not good enough
Hill - as above but might be ok as CB cover
Gorkks - again maybe cover
Connolly - not convinced
Hall - out best cb imo but injury prone

WE NEED NEW DEFENDERS!

Faurlin - mustard
Derry - cover at best
Rowlands - bye
Cook - bye
Buzsaky - cover
Taarabt - will shine if we keep him
Smith - might do ok
Mackie - got a good feeling
Alberti - crap

Helguson - cover
Hulse - crap
Aygemang - crap
Pellicori - worse than crap (23 games last season in Serie B, like league 1, and scored 1 goal....)
Clarke - crap

Spot on. Also Derry is no way a "cover at best" player. Was indispensible for us last year so cant say that about him without having seen another game since!

Re-read my post, I said Helguson would be ok as cover in the Prem. As will Derry be.

In my opinion, QPR need at least 10 good Premier League standard players, but preferably 12

1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders, 2 midfielders and 3 forwards.

While i would dearly love us to improve our starting eleven to give us the best possible chance of staying up, i think we are doing our players a dis-service by completely writing them off. We won the league last year and were good value for it. Compare that to Blackpool when they got promoted. They sneaked into the playoffs on the last week-end of the season, finishing sixth, and only just missed out on survival without much improvement to their squad. If we can keep hold of Taarabt and resign Routledge add say two defenders and a striker who are better than what we have at the moment, we wont be too far off giving ourselves a decent chance of survival.

The problem with that is very few players from the Championship make it in the Premiership these days as it's move so far on. Other than Taarabt/Faurlin/Kenny I can't see anyone else that will make it.

I even have doubts that Danny Graham may cut it.

No club that gets promoted changes their entire starting eleven, it just does not happen. It's all about survival, then improve the squad the following year and so on.
