Matt will only leave if the club agree to sell him. He isnt lookig for a move and is very happy with life at rangers at the moment. But lets face it, if a prem club come in for him whos to stand in his way of fufilling every footballers dream? If hes still here come next season then we have to show that the prem is where we want to be otherwise i can see him leaving. Hes too god for this division, FACT!

good plan on paper but there isnt anybody out there looking to buy fitz hall, certainly nobody who could match his wages and therefore we will be keeping him along with the other players that people keep saying we should sell, we cant sell them we are stuck with them. how hard is this concept to grasp!

No chance, he is one of the hottest young prospects outside the premiership in my opinion.

Dont get me wrong, I like Connolly, and would much rather we sold somebody like Fitz Hall, but whilst I think he's solid enough and only 21...he's not impressed me in a way that Mancienne did.

Now I know i'll get stick for this and I fully expect people to disagree with me here, and dont think for a second im knocking Connolly because I do like him, but perhaps what im trying to say is I dont think theres anything "Special" about him like there was Mancienne. Mancienne WILL play for England one day, and thats something we could all see when he was with us. For me Connolly is simply a solid young defender. Not a bad player by any stretch but not better than the likes of Mathew Bates for Mboro, or even Ryan Shawcross of Stoke who are both about the same age.

I would HAPPILY take 3 Million for him, let alone 5. Would be a superb bit of business and could very easily be replaced. However I would prefer he stayed, if only to prove that we are no longer a selling club!

I guess you didn't go to Southampton away, season before last. He was also shocking against us when playing for wolves. Ayemang roughed him up and he didn't want to know. He needs more muscle as he is too lightweight. So i'm glad you expected people to disagree because I certainly do!

Who cares he will never sign for us and I'm glad because I wasn't that impressed with him tbh. Connolly for me has been more impressive than Mancienne.

In my eyes I think that Connelly's reading and understanding of the game is fair superior to MM. He just is slightly following suit to the likes of other overrated chelsea reserves like Ben saha and Scott Sinclair, although I do think his attitude is much better than the latters. I just think you are overrated because it is the so called 'chelsea youth side'.

is this connolly any good then.not seen much of him.did he play against ipswich home & away? if he did he never stood out to me.(that doesnt make him a bad player tho)

I rarely agree with your comments WeAre - but on this one I agree totally. I believe Connolly has the potential to go right to the top, not so much because of his ability on the ball but due to his all round awareness - the skill is clearly there and distribution will improve with age but his reading of situations is already top drawer. As you say big Pat tore MM to shreds earlier this season and whilst I think he is a good player I believe Connolly has a greater chance of playing for the full England squad in the future.....his only true barrier being the Club he plays for maybe.

Mancienne is a good player but IMO i would have to say that Connoly is gonna be the better player in the long term as Mancienne does make the odd mistake whereas Connoly hasn't put a foot wrong since he arrived.
It is no suprise that prem teams are looking at him as he is a quality versatile player and if we sold we would have to sign at least 2 players to cover his loss!!;D

I think we need to forget Mancienne. He did a great job for us and we also did a great job for him. Good luck to him Maybe one day we might get him playing for us in the Prem.

As for Matty Connolly, I think he is an outstanding player. He has the physical strength alreayd, but is also an athlete in his build. He is quick, he has superb awareness and hisdecision-making, something which people often only notice when it goes wrong with a player (eg Bramble), is top notch. We need to build the defence around him and Gorkss. I know Stewpeas did ever so well, but if we are to move up a division I think Gorkks and Connolly are the pairing. Stewart is superb too except decision making lets him down and in the Prem you really do get punished. And that is where we want to be.

Can't see whats strange about it posting what i herd and wanted other peoples opinion, loads have replied and that's the idea of message boards, or thats what i thought anyway.
