Stan was a one off and was much more of an all rounder than Marsh.

Rodney was magic but Stan was definitley the man.

Bowles was, as you put it, a more rounded player. He was and still is my all time fave and idol - what is interesting though is how we all (me included) havehim on a pedestal - his attitude and behaviour made Adel look like an angel - but all these years on I still talk about him like he was the perfect model pro

He cared for QPR far more than Adel does, believe me!

Agreed, Stan was no mercenary and cared for the R's, indeed still does. But in terms of approach to training, playing the game, looking after his talent and all the other stuff (including the fact that on many occassions he contributed absolutely nada to 90 minutes of football) he is very similar - probably true of the icons of many a fan from yesteryear.

You are right though that the one area where no comparison can be drawn is his feeling for the Club and the fans. Then again, Rowan Vine has as much feeling for us as Adel!

Stan ended up playing in Mid feild towards the end of his QPR days and as mentioned above set most of our goals up that year.

Both players were had there strenghts as Rodney said, he was the best entertainer and at QPR was more interested in himself, when Stan was more of a team player and wanted to win more.

Love both of them Stan was my fav as he was in my time, Rodney was my elder brothers

Did either Rodney or stan ever have a season like adel had last year? I never saw either play as I'm a bit too young to remember. I'm just asking cos my boy holds adel in such high regard. It's a shame our beautiful game has become more about lolly than loyalty. Im going too have a hard time consoling my boy when he does leave.

Both done it year in and year out until they left that is what makes them so special. For contribution to the R's your find it very hard to seperate as were Rodney scored, Bowles scored or made the same amount through assists.

Enjoy Adel, the closes I have seen to either and with the way we coach his type of skill out of the game his talent is going to become even rarer.

                        I couldn't agree more.

As a person, Bowles had a dreadful attitude to the club, managers and his wife! How many transfer requests did he submit, usually a ploy to get a pay rise.

As a player, he was a genius.

Yes, he had a dreadful season in 78/79, but he was playing in a truly p*** poor team with players like Brian Williams, Tommy Cunningham, Paul Mcghee, Billy Hamilton, Mickey Walsh amongst other truly forgetable names. He may have only scored one goal, but he created chances for his teammates, which were usually fluffed.

I never got to see Marsh for QPR (apart from clips on tv), and he probably had a better goalscoring record _ I havem't compared - but I would say Bowles was the better all round player.

Yes, he did, and quite often.

Bowles also set a then record for the highest scorer in a season for the UEFA Cup (and QPR got knocked out in the QFs).

                            well

stan had one trully brilliant season when we first got promoted with the gordon jago regeime,he scored 20 league goals in the prem and scored one fa cup goal giving him 21 goals in total

rodney had one magnificent season in 66-67 scoring 30 league goals,3 fa cup goals and 11 league cup goals one of those goals were one of the three that got us to claime the trophy, most people would say that was the greatest ever season that was ever acheived by a qpr player

but neither marsh or bowles could ever acheive the consistancy of les ferdinand he never ever seemed to have a bad game, and so id rightfully considerd by most to be the greatest everr striker to play for qpr

adel has has one trully brilliant season hitting 19 goals, but i expect him to move onto to barcelona or real madrid and go onto true greatness but because he wont stay very long he will never be regarded as one of the true greats of qpr,hes a bit like roy wegerle, absolutle brilliant but no staying power
