Hope Neil and 'Arry are talking, plenty of possibles if Spurs want new signings, and he currently has a big squad. But who should he go after?

Walker - unlikely. Villa may be fav
Naughton - more likely
Dos Santos - Isn't likely to get regular 1st team games at Spurs. Loan?
Defoe - Defnot. big wages.
Keane - please no, past his peak, Blackburn seem favs
Crouch - Would be a great signing, and might take a wage drop.

If we can then push Tarbs upfield as our second striker just off Crouchie, it would be a successful combo imo. Prem could be way too much pressure on Tarbs, and too much expected of a 22 yr old, so we should change to 4-4-1-1 formation.

But which Spurs surplus do we want?

Naughton - possibly a target - more likely to end up at Leicester
Dos Santos - back to Spain - Sevilla, Racing or Sporting Gijon

Keane - available, wants to stay in London HUGE wages c. £70k a week
Crouch - as above.

Unless Bernie changes his budgets, we have no chance of buying or loaning anyone from a Top 6 side unless they're under 21 with no first team experience.

the major stumbling block on these players and many others mentioned is not transfer fees its the wages.
players on 40k upwards are just not realistic or sustainable for a club of our size.
The stark reality is we will need to try to cement our premier league status on a shoestring for a few years before we can move forward....a near enough impossible task.
Lets try to enjoy the premier league while we can but ensure we do not commit financial suicide.

If anyone comes in from Spurs (aside the remote possibility of Naughton) it's more likely to be the likes of Andros Townsend, Harry Kane, John Bostock, Steven Caulker or Dean Parrett.

Difficult situation. Some of the players Spurs would be happy to move on, don't really want to move, and if they do want to move, it's difficult to find a buying club that would meet their salary demands or other personal terms, such as location. Players like Keane, Jenas and Bentley would all be happy to consider a move but would prefer to be in London with either a commeasurate salary or a big signing on fee to compensate for a lower salary. That's a very small market. One of the problems is that none of the promoted clubs this season are the traditional "yo-yo" clubs with more money sloshing around for wages etc. Usually a club "like" Birmingham, Newcastle, Bolton, West Brom etc pick up some of the fringe players of the bigger clubs. This season us, Norwich and Swansea simply haven't got the finance behind us to take those gambles.

Keane will probably end up at Fulham, especially if Johnson ends up at QPR - Jol is a big fan of how Keane turned his career around after they had a big falling out in 2004. Can't see any takers for Bentley in the forseeable future. Will listen to any enquiries for Pavlyuchenko and Crouch but Harry does like them both. Kranjcar will probably go abroad. Spartak Moscow and Juventus have been enquiring. Modric not going anywhere.

cheers nodge(notice i called u node before woops) its good to hear other teams rumours/gossip/info.. totally forgot they had bentley.. he wont even get a sniff of the bench. surprised about modric, i expected him to go nearer the end of the window. and is there any truth in defoe going? keep hearing he is talking to arsenal.

Disagree. Caulker and Kane are outstanding talents. Caulker was POTY at Bristol City last year and Spurs are looking to loan him out to a PL side. Kane, similar - will be a top player. Still only 18 but a beast of striker.

Defoe - zero truth he's talking to Arsenal. He's under contract, Spurs will not deal with Arsenal.
