Bloke in my village and his son wanted to get season tickets to a London club. I obviously pushed him in direction of QPR but he compared prices with Fulham and he found he was able to buy a season ticket there for himself for £350 and for his son £150. They will, no doubt, be turned into Fulham fans.
His comment was that actually he had a bit of a soft spot for QPR but isn't fanatatical about a team. Said even with high prices he might have been tempted to get a season ticket at ours but after reading a few articles and realising that we weren't going to spend anything like the money to give "the London premiership experience" the club keeps banging on about, he went to Fulham instead who as he pointed out "are probably not that much bigger than QPR but seem to have a lot more ambition".
Now I'm not one of the obsessives about season tickets. If the board had have invested in players and stated an intention to look for a bigger ground in the future I wouldn't personally have had a huge problem with the prices. I know there will also be those who say "oh, couple of glory hunters lost, not real fans, who cares?" But if we hope to grow as a club these are precisely the kind of new fans we need to start attracting.
Just find it very sad that our whole premiership adventure has already gone so very badly wrong before it has even started.
