  • how easy is it to ask others to spend all their money on rangers?

serious question if you had approx 200mill (which flavio is worth) would you buy rangers and bankroll the club?

realisticaly doubt anybody would , we might want to own it but we wouldnt want to lose the money and bankroll what the club is losing every season,

another question what would you have done to increase turnover this season to accomadate the inc in salaries? we have all had an opinion on why they shouldnt raise prices so what would be your solution?

transfer strategy would you go and blow it all chasing a dream and if it goes wrong your liable to pay the salaries for next few years?

the reason im asking is that there has been a lot of debate on the problems but very little in terms of solution

so would be really good to get a list of solutions that dont involve billionaires throwing cash at it

does the lack of response to this suggest noone really has a solution for the board and that in fact its much easier to criticise a board then to offer any crdible solution?

I did write a long reply to this... but then misplaced it, as seems to happen to me quite a lot on here, and then the debate has moved on by the time I've put a new one together.

In short, there aren't too many solutions without billionaires throwing cash at it. I think they key is what amount of cash. From memory, this has what has been done in the past:

The Bradford, Hull approach has been pretty much discredited, i.e. irresponsible speculation which puts the club's whole future in peril.

A prudent, sensible approach, which factors in a possible failure to last more than a season in the top flight, a la West Brom

Someone who can afford to speculate without putting the club in peril, a la Fayed (sort of). Now of course Fulham owe him loads in loans and they are in far more debt than us but they are established there now (though I do wonder what would happen if they went down).

Perhaps Bolton are the only club in recent times who have managed to maintain their top-flight status without going mental money-wise (though I admittedly don't know that much about their financial status).

What would I go for.?.. well like just about every other football fan in the world I would want our board to spend at least enough on keeping us up. So a sort of 'qualified' speculation.

BE and FB seem to believe they have a formula which will see us survive next season, with the safety-catch of the January window if things don't go to plan.

I have never been naive enough to think that we would be getting in a whole raft of expensive, high-earners, however there is some middle-ground between the spend, spend, spend and tight *******s approaches.

So that isn't a solution really. Just a bit of rambling. However, I would be happy just as long as Neil was happy too.

Personally speaking mate, I would erase the debt, but ensure that the club was run, not necessarily for a profit, but not at a loss, or at least not a ridiculous one. Bit of sound long term planning for the future would of course be good.

Controversially, would not pay the sort of salaries other clubs are happy to pay their players. If for no other reason than unless someone has the guts to stop that problem escalating, it will not go away. We may go down, so what ? I think if the club were just to be honest and explain their stance to fans, that they wanted to ensure the long term financial stabilty, there may be quite a bit of support. But sadly, as is the situation today, they will never even want to understand all the while the club insist on taking liberties with and alienating fans.

I spotted a couple of sentences from my old friend W12_Ranger this morning. In between his attempts at winding people up, he talks an awful lot of sense at times.

Next season will have fans wishing they were back in the Championship, I have no doubt about that. Once a few have got the glory games out of their system they will soon realise it is all a load of old ********.

I'm sure pricing out fans for the pittance they recieve back is not the answer.

We have billionaires sitting in the QPR boardroom.
Nobody is asking these billionaires to spunk every penny they've got.
All people are asking of these fabulously wealthy individuals, is spend the money that is needed to ensure our competitiveness in the premier league.
Seems eminately sensible to me, if not downright reasonable.
Don't forget, they're making the fans pay through the nose for a product which has yet to significantly improve, and this can only be done through five or six astute signings.
                  That is all.

so really when you break it all down its not the fact that the board is not spending moe to do with them comunicating the debt situation the implications and their plans for rangers for the current season, we run a company where everyyear everyone wants mre money every year cos they see the company do well what they wuldnt realise if we didnt explain was that we just keep paying out more and more we need to generate more and more sales which in turn puts people under a load of pressure, i find you share with people the truth people (well most) will be inteligent to understand. therefore if the board were reading this we would be asking for a breakdown as to what we are doing and why, not in a critical manner but in a "help us understand" manner

For a start flavio does not own the club, Bernie does and he's worth about £2 billion, a tad more. Secondly football is not a business like any other, it is not about profit, it's about success on the pitch, and to achieve that it takes investment on the playing side. Anyone who buys a football club knows this, and should be prepared to do so, otherwise what are they in it for ? If they just want to make money, buy an ISA.

We are in a vicious circle as far as club options, been left behind by clubs we used to be much bigger than, and it needs a long term solution, probably 5 yrs +

                          To state the obvious,
In order to attract top players we have to pay top wages
To pay top wages we need to increase gate and merchandising revenue.
But our capacity is only a third of certain other london clubs, so we need a new 30-35k stadium, a pro-active marketing department to heavily promote the club in order to attract lots of new fans. Promo's like rewarding fans for bringing friends or other referral schemes, £299 corner season tickets, better 'on the day' entertainment improved facilities, active marketing/emailing system to membership. loyalty rewards, etc, etc.

BE is 80+, so is probably not keen on a long term investment, but the Mittals could be, and I really hope they are still keen on a takeover. To them, 200m will be like buying an ice cream, and the long term investment/stadium may be attractive. Will never happen with BE, his motivation is money and profit, and he has no club passion.

For now, a bit like Andy Murray and his gorgeous girlfriend, we are punching well above our weight, and until someone decides we are worth an investment to expand, we will always be struggling to stay in the top div. I expect us to be relegated this season, unfortunately, we're just not big enough to survive..

You cant tell me that these two herberts dont have the contacts to actually pay a large amount towards building a new bigger stadium for which will bring in much larger revenue's to help sustain the club, with a bigger corporate income.
