  • Evelyn Lintott - our first England international

I'm going to visit the grave of Evelynn Lintott in France this week. He was our first England international. He died at the Battle of the Somme in the First World War. He has no actual grave, but is remembered at the Thiepval Memorial.

I'm also going to see the memorial of another ex QPR player who died at the Somme. Henry John Pennifer is remembered at the Pozieres Memorial.

Going to put some crosses down on behalf of the Rangers fans.

Shame the club don't recognise our history.

Will post some photos up later in the week.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

Interesting stuff. How did you find that out? They do mention Lintott as our first international when you do the stadium tour, and if my memory serves me right there is a photo of him somewhere near the main reception.

Saw this thread earlier, and I thought I'd wait to see if you got much response to it before posting. Thought you may not as for most of the herberts posting on here, Rangers history and heroes started with Paladini and Kevin Gallen, and sadly I was right.

Proud that there are still a few who know and care a little bit about this club and its origins, and very proud to be represented by you when you place your crosses.

      For anyone interested:

Just a quick question Bernie's Barnet : Why do you feel the need to have a dig at fellow rangers supporters on this subject?

i travel through this region and many other battle scarred french towns and villages at least twice a year and cannot help but spend some time thinking of all the fallen, not just those historically linked to my football club

but to prevent me remaining bracketed as a 'herbert' next time i'm there i'll wear some hoops and think of how it impacted our season that year

i may need help after though........high horses can be a **** to get on
I don't care about morals 'cause the world's insane and we're all to blame anyway

                2 touch your right.
I did the tour at the back end of last season and i saw that picture of Lintott on the Reception staircase.
To be fair Hammersmith R i think the club have improved with the History but we are distrcated with all the crap with new badges and ticket prices.
The fella who runs the tours covered a lot of History in detail and from what ive read on other sites he seems responsible for the plaque unveiling at St Judes Hall which will mark the 125th Anniversary of QPR.

                SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE

I didn't know about Lintott until I did the tour in April. Would you have considered me a 'herbert' until then? A bit harsh and unnecessary towards your fellow supporters i think. If we were all the same, life would be pretty boring wouldn't it?

The owners are so far out of touch with what QPR is all about its embarassing.

Hope you have a good trip Hammersmith.

Cannot believe this is a subject that's caused an argument. Good heavens.
