The BBC today announced that they had begun the ‘first phase’ in the sale of Television Centre in White City, London.
They’ve hired property consultants Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) to investigate either selling the iconic HQ outright, or “alternative proposals possibly based around a joint venture partnership".
Either way, the corporation wants to “maximise the value” of the site, and get the best deal for licence fee payers.
It was announced back in 2007 that Television Centre was being put on the market. Thousands of staff will move to their new Media City centre in Salford, Manchester, with others relocating to Broadcasting House in London.
The BBC plans to move all the staff out by 2015 and have set a deadline of 1 July this year for interested parties to register their interest in the site
I still think this site could prove too costly..pay for the site itself, pay for the demolition and contruction..plus,looking at the site on google earth,i'm not convinced you could fit a stadium in the footprint of the site..its an awkward shape..any thoughts?
