Have been Rangers for 42 years and don’t post often but do follow this board and to be honest some of the comments re players signing and events surrounding the club etc are quite extreme. In an effort to bring some sanity I have been doing a bit of digging myself. To clarify my credentials I have been involved in Professional football from the Championship down for many years, albeit not at QPR and as a result have numerous contacts, but will not be divulging them for obvious reasons, so please do not ask. Additionally I do not have any agenda or sit in any camp but am merely posting what I have been able to find out, take it or leave it.
Transfer Budget- The current owners are unlikely to release big money for transfers/wages because they are very shrewd with their money and may well sell the club in the very near future. The value of the club is currently at an all time high and will only increase if we have a good first season in the Prem, conversely if we struggle the value will decrease. Whether the club is sold, and it could be to anyone, but the Mittals would still be my favourites, or the current owners accept they will remain in charge for the majority of the season, it may be too late (even if the current or new owners wanted to) to attract the calibre of players many fans would like.
Warnock-I do not believe he will walk, his greatest wish was to have another go at the Prem and however much we love him there are not many other Prem teams queuing up to take him. He may well be frustrated by the transfer budget (as he was last time he was in this division with Sheff Utd) but he is clever and we are in a better position than Sheff Utd, and he very nearly kept them up.
Transfers-Transfers are never simple and players are no different to any other employee, most are not fans and they will look for the best deal for both them and their families, add to that agent influence and they can be difficult to finalise. There will be several additions and some fans might not initially appreciate some of these but look how some of last seasons additions turned out. Players can often over and under achieve for a variety of reasons with team spirit, motivation and a manager they trust and want to play for being massive reasons that see some suddenly become twice the player they were at their previous club. Furthermore anybody who claims a deal is done when it clearly isn’t finalised is on very dodgy grounds and if that information is coming from an official within the club then to be honest it is at best very unprofessional. Anyway for some gossip, whilst unlikely DG is not finalised at Swansea yet and do not write of CMS until it is official, although to be honest I think both are over priced. If all goes well you might all be surprised by a couple of signings from abroad? There will of course be some free’s and loans, all which have already been discussed to death, so whilst we will not be signing Messi, we will be improved on last year and I believe that should be enough.
Season Tickets-All clubs have a cash flow problem during the summer months and to a large extent season ticket sales help this problem. Financially clubs make more money from game by game sales but it is off course a risk but less so in the Prem when you can almost guarantee a full house for most games. Whilst the price may seem high and fans do not agree the fact is it is the going rate in the Prem and the policy the club have taken. Unfortunately it is all about supply and demand and high season ticket sales would have given an injection of money other than from the current owners that may just have helped Warnocks transfer budget, so its all a bit chicken and egg really. However, as with supply and demand the customer can choose and the owners may have miscalculated on interest.
Tarrabt-Firstly, like a lot of professional coaches I am not a fan so will get that out of the way, great talent but in my opinion will struggle at a higher level (hope I proved wrong). Very difficult individual to manage as the recent international issue has shown, with his integration into the team very much dependent on the players around him. As you sign better quality established premier league players they are less inclined to pander to the ego of a talented but immature young, unproven at that level player, and this is a big factor when looking at transfer targets. Don’t expect him to play as regularly next season either due to form or antics, but only my opinion.
Just various opinions, took an age to write and if you are not interested so be it but please don't turn it into a huge thread and expect me to answer a whole host of questions.
